New Adventurebilt just arrived

Post by beaverlid »

I got my new CS Adventurebilt in the mail. I love the hat. When compared to my other fedora which is a Barons an immediate difference is apparent. The hat is very light weight but very dense. Steve did a great job all around. From all of the comments I have read and the high expectations I had for the hat I will say this fedora exceeds my expectations in every area. The felt is wonderfully pounced. The block and bash are spot on and the liner is top notch. The adventurebilt logo on the liner is stitched in and not a print. The hat fits my head like a glove. The ribbon is beautifully done and the sweat band is done extremely well also. It is worth every penny I spent on it. So with out further comment her are the initial pics. They are indoors as it is raining here in Virginia. As soon as the weather clears I will post better pics. Let me know what you think of this awesome fedora.

Moderators if it is to many pics let me know and I will add a link instead. I figured I would show side profiles as well.

Nice! That's a good fit and look on you. As for the pic count, you're one over, so just choose which oe you want to link to. :TOH:

In regards to the rain, I wore my grey AB in the rain we had north of DC today. One person asked me, "Where's your umbrella?" I replied, "I'm wearing it!" ;)

Thanks for the compliments Bink. I removed the pic from the back. It was kinda dark anyway. As for the rain I ran around all day in it. I didn't attempt any outdoor pics because of all the overcast. We are going through the leaves changing colors and really getting into fall. It is good hiking weather so I will take a hike into the blue ridge mountains when the weather clears and get better pictures.

Bink, are you from the D.C. area or just visiting. If so I send a permanent invite for you to visit me and my family. Would love to get together and talk hats. I am only 4 hours from D.C.

Likewise, you're always welcome up here! I live in Maryland, just on the north side of the District border. In fact, I take the metro rail into DC every day for work. Where in Virginia are you? I was raised as a kid in Waynesboro and miss the Blue Ridge!

I live in a small city called Lynchburg. Waynesboro is about an hour and a half from me. When I hike the Blue Ridge I usually go to the parkway near waynesboro. Ever hear of Afton in Nelson County? It is right over the mountain from Waynesboro.

Congratulations BeaverLid! Looks swell on you, and as always Steve proves why he's tops! That sweatband looks comfortable, for some reason it really stood out to me in the interior pic.

Wear it with pride you lucky dog! :whip:

Thanks for all of the compliments guys. They are appreciated.

As for my wait time on the fedora it was dramatically diifferent from the norm. When I read about the talk of Steves inevitable retirement I knew I had to get one while I still could. I had to pay more then everybody that ordered before AB price hike, but on the flipside Steve works on the day he would normally take off and makes the hats that he charges the higher price. So that being said, I ordered mine roughly 3 weeks ago. The new price IMO is worth every extra penny. Not only did I secure my piece of Indiana Jones history but the wait time was minimal.

Again let me thank Steve for working on his day off to make my hat. We all need a day off and yet my feeling is Steve feels guilty for charging more and to compensate he makes it with little wait.

That is just my opinion though.

three... weeks... wow... that's scary fast! :) There are upsides to paying more for something, especially of this caliber.

Beautiful hat and suits you as well.

I ordered mine before the price went up so I'll have mine in a longer time frame but it will be well worth the wait.

The fedora is wonderful. I only own two others but from my limited experience with fedoras this is indeed a special hat.

Crismans the wait will be well worth it. Part of the Adventurebilt experience is the wait. Everybody's first adventure with this hat is how long the wait time was to get that extra special fedora. I read the threads and people are talking about having ordered their hat in 2007. Once you get it you have that story to tell, and you appreciate it more.

I by no means wanted to wait to get mine but that part of my Adventurebilt ordering experience is less dramatic then most. So while you wait take heart that you will get it soon enough and already have a story to tell about it.

My first experience with the Adventurebilt was when you could order and have the hat in about a week to ten days....ahhhhhhh what innocent bliss that was. I fondly remember those days of my youth in COW. :D

Actually my most recent hat was well WELL worth the wait and the wait was painfully fun too - like a kid at christmas waiting for the presents. And what a present to get!!!
