When you said it was light I didn't realise...

just how light it is.

Got my first Indy-style jacket today. Todd's standard - thanx Ronski! \:D/

What astounded me, though I should have realized it before, was how light this thing is. :-k When I opened the package it seemed more like a shirt than a jacket. Wore it all day (under the mechanic's jacket I use when I'm working on heavy equipment) and it really was like there was no extra layer there - although in retrospect it probably cut the wind that often seems to blow right through that old canvas thing.

The other aspect that I noticed is that the straps make it feel like the "waist" of the jacket is much higher than I'm used to. Not a bad thing, just different.

Just a couple of "off the top" thoughts, and yes, I know that

;0

but I don't have a digital camera. Maybe sometime in the future...

I noticed that same thing. Especially when the jacket is zipped up.

Yes, lambskin leather is EXTREMELY light. When I got my Wested lamb I was amazed that it was as light as it was. That's what I love about it. I can even use it in the summer on cooler days. It really wears well because of the lightness. It doesn't restrict at all.

As for the straps, I never noticed it having a high waist, but perhaps your strapps are pulled too tight?

My thought as well.

Todds lambskin is particularly light. Good for hotter climates and high summer I understand.

no lighter than my Wested ToD. I wouldn't say particularly light.

Then you got a particularly light one. My lambskin probably outweighs my (now sold) Todd by at least half.

I'd be interested in seeing a weigh in. Do you have some scales?

Todd's standard size L, Wested ToD, each come in about the same, just under 2 lbs.

RC, how do the lining quality, materials etc, compare on the two jackets ??

Looking back here my size 38 weighed in at about 2.75lb so I might have exaggerated slighly but nearly a third heavier like for like.

I've seen todds (but don't have one), and after trying it have thought to myself how nice it was that it was light weight. It could easily be a 2-3 season jacket

My Wested ROTLA Custom Goat is too heavy for anything but the COOLEST summer nights, a very very short fall and spring, and it's too light and too tight/form fitting/SA fitting to be able to wear any kind of real sweater underneath (No MOTB for me :-({|= )

Basically, I couldn't see IJ wearing my Wested in the desert (maybe the night he finds the ark :-k ) or in Nepal without a sweater (the jacket IS NOT that good of a windbreaker).

I could totally see breaking in a Todds standard, treating it right with generous application of Pecards, and having it fit like a glove that you could wear a lot of places. JMO

about the same. The Todd's lining may be heavier/tighter weave than the Wested ToD lining.

It does? Don't remember posting that. If I didn't know you better I'd think you were stalking me. :). It's a washed goat. I think there is less internal facing in the ToD plus the smaller pockets, though I'm surprised if it is enough to make .35 of a lb difference. Washed goat is quite light stuff.

I can wear my two Wested lambs all year long, don't see any reason for getting a heavier, hotter and supposedly tougher leather.

I have the straps pretty loose, it's more a matter of being aware that there's something there than feeling a tight waist.

I've had a goatskin A2 from LLBean for years and that's what I'm comparing to, I guess. It doesn't seem particularly heavy until I compare the Todd's, then the goat seems to become a lot more substantial.

Guess I'll get used to it, but for now it feels more like putting on an extra shirt than wearing a jacket.

I like light lambskin jackets. I want something I can wear all year around. There's a nice one at the mall but has a much too thick liner.

Maybe you should consider the Todd's Standard then. Seems like it would fit the bill.

I tried it. I did like how light it was but the fit on me was bad.

I wish I could get a Todd's standard jacket but they don't make longs.

I think it's not so much a 'long' that's needed but longer arms on the jackets
