Forward Gypsy about two minutes in! The rest of the ep is also on YT. Enjoy!

*EDIT*
The whip is most defiantly a bullwhip. Australian style with 12" handle maybe 6-8 feet long, whiskey? in color. A text book forward flick in part to to.....grab...a stool. If they're not cutting chairs in half on film they are fetching them. Oh well a wonderful episode and a great look at the whip in Hollywood! The following episodes feature Mueritta as well as his whip.

thank you for the link.
I-as everybody here I guess- am fond of Zorro, especially with Guy Williams!

There's another ep where Don Diego's friend wants to fight Zorro in Duel. He must train with Bernardo. And in this scene he grabs Bernardo's watch, remember?
Could you find it on YT please? I don't know precisely the name of this ep..........

Nice link James, it brought back memories :). It almost looked like there were 3 different whips used in those scenes. The first looked like a natural colored whip, the second looked like it had a darker handle, and the third looked like an all whiskey.

These Zorro videos bring back some memories. :TOH:

They definitely used a few different whips here, when Mueritta first rides into town it looks like he is using one of the old Bucheimer brand swivel handled bullwhips. The bullwhip used in subsequent scenes does look Australian in orgin, based on the shape and taper, etc . Unfortunately the quality of the video makes it too difficult to tell who might have made them.

Guy Williams used Bucheimers swivel handled latigo bullwhips though out the series, it was a slightly different model with a reinforced transition zone. I had a nice talk with his Guy's son a few years back about the whips his dad used for the show. He shared some fun stories about watching his dad practicing in their front yard back when they where filming the show. He also sent me a photo of one of his dad’s whips, but asked that I not post it online so I will honor that. But for those wondering what the whips looked like. It was one of these just dyed a faded black for the show.

These whips came with a short, flat wide fall, but this particular whip lost it at some point.

The one that Murietta was carrying around in the room during the scene with the tanner and during the duel with Zorro looked VERY australian, but the close-up of it with the hat where you can see the feather was DEFINITELY one of those 8 plait latigo ones, (those close ups of that nature would typically be done separately, sometimes DAYS later, so you weren't wasting time on camera setups that didn't feature your actors.)

The whip Murietta was carrying VERY much resembled a modern Jacka, so I'm thinking maybe it was Jacka's mentor, Tom Hill's work maybe?

Tom Hill and Cecil Henderson's work were some of the more popular in the Hollywood Stuntman circles back then, weren't they?
