Anyone seen Local Land Surveyor lately?
I noticed that our 'Garrison Hatter' hasn't posted since September 11th! That's not normal!
How about reporting in LLS! We'd like to know how the hat business is proceeding! We're a little concerned....at least I know I am.
Regards! Michaelson

Well, the pig flu is going around in these parts.....but LLS may be away from home, surveying. Fedora

We could take a survey of what happened to him. Or not.
Re: Anyone seen Local Land Surveyor lately?
Yeah, David - where are you? Hope all is well. I'm really enjoying my Garrison Raider. In fact, I was just going to start a new thread on how well it stood up to a recent re-bashing. You told me it would, so I finally screwed up the courage to do it. Looks great and I'm much happier with it than I was. It wasn't a bad bash before (that I put in, not David, for others reading), but it just wasn't exactly what I wanted, which of course was all my own fault. But your hat saved me from my own mistake.

I'm waiting for his Street of Cairo hat! I'll post pictures as soon I'll receive it!

Re: Anyone seen Local Land Surveyor lately?
steerpike, when I ordered from LLS, my experience with him "communication-wise" was great.
He sent me a quick e-mail on the very day he posted the hat my way...
So, was it the same for you?
In other words, are you saying that you did recently hear from him (written or otherwise?)
Please let us know... like everyone else here, I'd like to get a little confirmation that all's well with Mr. Garrison.

Re: Anyone seen Local Land Surveyor lately?
Hey ,
I am alive and kickin'. As Bink said, I have been really involved with my survey work. As many know, the economy is terrible and I have had to make adjustments with the company as a whole and it has caused me to shift focus off the lounging time at COW and be very attentive to my upcoming work load that looks "ify". I think we'll be fine. Just put your head down and walk into the storm. Thank goodness I got as hat that can take it. . No schwine flu, but I did come down with a bug that knocked me out a couple of days and then after that I was out of town with survey work. The big rains we had here in Georgia two weeks back made traveling around the state a guessing game for a while. i never knew if the road I was on was closed due to flooding. Any way, kind of back to normal now. I just came in from the shop from playing catch-up on some hats. Thank you everyone for your concerns. I had just stepped back in the office this afternoon when Bink called. Thanks Bink. It was very considerate of you to call and a pleasure to talk with you. Feel free to ring me any time. And Thank You, for wondering where I got off to. I am moved.
This brings me to another point I need to make. I want to give a personal Thank You to the fans (customers) I have had from COW. Each and every one of you have been the most understanding and enjoyable people I have had the pleasure to deal with. Many folks I know could stand to take a lesson from you all. I have had many orders that have come from overseas and it tickles me to know that I get the opportunity to converse via email with each of you. I enjoy learning as much as I can from the "old country".
I have cleared this with the mods, so I wanted to say a few things about Garrison Hatters. The Standard Raider and Cairo Raider is still being offered by me. I have noticed that the views on my Cairo Bazaar post has really been climbing lately. If any of you are think forward to Christmas, I am still at a 1.5 month turn around time. I will be sending out my current orders this week. Steerpike this includes you. I say all this so that if any of you are thinking of ordering one, now is the time. Feel free to email me at my web site address. You'll find that in the Cairo Bazaar post (sticky). Just to drop a small hint, I will be offering felt of a different animal next year. I am working on offering reblocks/redo's. Stay tuned. As you are all aware of, it takes a while to get in a "groove" to hat making. I am working on some other styles and colors of hats also. I am thinking forward to my own position in this hat world. I am not as agressive as John Penman (hat's off to his current endeavors's), since I am a full time business owner of my surveying company, but I enjoy making hats and am a big fan of the Indy world and want to be able to help those who are fans as well.
Jasonalun, you were the first in line. I am gald your Garrison Hatters Standard Raider is doing fine. Bash it as much as you like. It can handle it and you will train yourself with every change.
Mitch, yours was the first to go above the "lower 48". It looks like it is breaking in great. Glad you are pleased with it.
, if the rains keep coming, my family and I will just have to work our way up to the foothills of Tennessee with you and yours, if you don't mind. Again, thank you for your concern. Now back to hat making and tomorrow we'll pick up a delta 15 and move a head untill we find that "old blackjack oak" that was located as the corner back in 1936.

Very happy about your news, thank you LLS! Was a great pleasure doing business with you!
Re: Anyone seen Local Land Surveyor lately?
Glad to hear all is well with you, LLS! I am indeed proud to have been your very first! I wear my GR with great pride, and probably bore the heck out of everyone who asks where I got it, but I don't care. I do get a lot of comments on what a great-looking hat it is.
I'm going to post some more pictures of how it looks now after the re-bashing, as soon as I get some time. Should have them up by this weekend. This hat is now, IMHO, the perfect Raven Bar hat - which is my favorite scene and look. I originally failed to turn it enough, so it looked more like the opening "man with the hat" bash, which isn't bad, but probably my least favorite look, so I'm SO glad I was able to change it successfully.
Do you do grey travel hats, Dave? I'm looking to add one more to my collection, someday (hopefully sooner rather than later), and since you mentioned other colors, I wondered if grey was available.
