Just got my WPG pants today

I received the wool army trousers ("pinks") from What Price Glory today. What a great pair of pants. Heavy material, great quality, really nice pair of pants.

But they're horribly undersized! LOL. I wear a 38-waist pant so I ordered a 38 pant....and received a 38 pant. But, unless these things are labeled wrong, they're nowhere near a 38. When I tried them on, they fit like they might be a 34! Based on their sizing system, I'd have to order a 42 or a 44 to wear them. Which is unfortunate since my costume event is this weekend and I've got no shot of getting another pair in time.

Anyone else have any challenges with WPG's pants running small?

Thanks!
Tony

Hey Tony,

Most likely the other folks at your party won't know the difference between Dockers and Wested's. So you can run to Ross and pick up some close enough khakis for about $15-20. The rest of your gear will outshine the pants anyway.

Wade, thanks for a perspective I hadn't thought of. I've been hastily collecting scree-accurate gear like crazy for two weeks and I guess it just didn't occur to me that -- for this event -- it won't be the worst thing to show up with a pair of cotton khakis.

Thanks for the perspective.

I'll bet if you held a tape measure up to the pants they'll measure out to the size they're marked.

Most modern clothing is sized a lot more generously than the size on the tag would indicate, but clothing from the first half of the 20th century (or replicas of such) were a lot more honest.

I would be willing to bet that if you took a tailor's tape measure and measured your actual waist, it would not be 38 inches.

I hope you will have some photos to post for us of your costuming event. It sounds like you have some high quality gear (except for the pants, right now).

By the way, what model of WPG pants did you buy?
