The main difference between the WPG bag and most original MKVII bags is the color. The WPG is a little tanner than most of the originals were. However, the difference is negligible unless you are comparing them side by side. The only other difference that I have noticed is that the fabric on the WPG is a little stiffer and rougher than the original bags I've seen an own (or have owned at one time). Most original bags I've felt are floppy/flimsy. As to the strap, it's not bad, but it is a little stiff and too light in color. You'd do well to get a Keppler strap after you get a WPG bag.

Washing the WPG bag with detergent in a washing machine gets rid of the tan color, leaving it a medium olive drab. Ii also gets rid of the stiffness, leaving the bag rather floppy. If you do this, the bag will come out of the dryer quite wrinkled, so you'll need to iron it.

Yeah, I love these bags. I think I have 4 WPG bags. The color is actually not too bad. Compared to my MKVII's and MKVI's, all these bags the color range was huge. So to say the WPG is different in color is rather meaningless. The only big thing that is wrong is the leather strap. Just get a strap from Lee Keppler, and you have a perfect bag. As far as stiffness, non-issue. I have used a WPG regularly for over a year. It's probably just as floppy now than any of my other vintage MKVII's. In fact they are probably too floppy for my tastes. But the bag is really, really sturdy. Again, I am amazed that Jerry at WPG got this so right, first time out. These bags are so popular that he sold 500 in his first 8 months of selling them. He restocked his inventory with another 500. Amazining.

It's Great! I've both, an original MKVII bought from Noel Howard and that great replica from WPG. I thought my original one was too precious  for walking around with it, so I ordered a WPG bag for "hard use" an it's great. More than colour, the only finding I met on the replica (being very very touchy) It's that small string ring stitched to the bag edge to attach the cord which holds the bag around the breast (like the original gas mask bag) and rolls up on that metal disk -wonderfully replied on the WPG bag-. But... what's the reason for placing the bag on your breast now??? So, that's no important. :D
