I love my goatskin Raiders, but I'm considering either a predistressed or lambskin this time. Any thoughts or comments???

My suggestion? Authentic lambskin. You have one at the warmer end of the scale for colder weather, get the authentic lambskin for the other end. That's what I have and wear, and I'm REALLY pleased with my authentic lambskin Raiders version. Just a fine fine jacket. Regards. Michaelson

I second Michaelson's opinion. By Peter's own admission, the authentic lamb is even thicker than the lambstouch, so I would think it would hold up to a little bit cooler weather as well... though I wouldn't know given the hot and humid Chesapeake Bay weather I get.

I will third the Authentic Lambskin. I just got one myself
a few months back, and I really like it.

The color is great, not too dark, not too light, but just
the right color brown.

Also, it is VERY soft to touch and wear! It is also slightly
thicker from the old lambskin as the others have stated.

Also, on a side note, Peter has tweeked his designs over
the last few months or so, and the new jackets are much
improved over ones made say a year ago or longer.

All thhe pocket placement and shape, storm flap, collar, and side strap
issues all seem to be ironed out. Peter also has made the side pleats
slightly larger, and the leather used in the pleats is a little for firm than
the rest of the jacket, so they will go back into position after you move
your arms around. Alot of people have had problems in the past with
the pleats staying open after you put your arms down. This has
been fixed and you now get a great jacket without having to ask for too
many special things.

I just asked for an antique brass zipper, with the pull on the
american side, and antique brass "d" rings, and all the other
things were already "fixed" for me without having to ask.

I would suggest getting an extra inch added to the front of
the jacket by the way.

I did this because the jackets tend to ride up slightly, and
the extra inch helps to keep the wait "horizontal" when you look
at yourself in the mirror.

I thought that you had a pre-distressed cowhide and were very happy with it.

Am I remembering wrong, or has something changed? I only ask because pre-distressed was going to be my next jacket,

I do, but it's pretty heavy and I hardly ever wear it. I like my goat better, but if I ever get another jacket it'll be the lamb. I love the way it feels. But since you live in Boston, the PD cow might work great for you. Don't get me wrong, the PD is great, especially if you want that worn look without having to distress it yourself, but I personally would go for lamb or lambstouch (which is cow that feels like lamb).

Thanks everyone!!! I was kinda leaning towards the lamb anyway. I'll have to re-measure myself since it's been a year and a half, and a couple of pounds since I ordered the goatskin. I'll also have to add a little for all of the pasta, pizza, and wine I'm getting on a daily basis over here.....
