Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
This may have been covered before, if so, please forgive me. I'm thinking about getting one of Todd's shirts but I'm wondering how much they shrink when they are washed; I'm not sure what size to get and I just don't want to get it then wash it and it shrink too much.
Thanks in advance for any help,

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
I did not notice any appreciable shrinkage to my shirt. If you a tall guy with long arms as I am, I'd order the shirt a bit large. I find Todd's shirt tail to be too short.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
The main criteria for would be neck and chest measurements. A favorite cotton oxford from a dept. store might be handy for the comparison and accurate fit.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
If you wash in cold and hang dry (as I do) you shouldn't have any problems with shrinkage.
Now, if your name is George Costanza and you go swimming...but that's another story.
In terms of choosing a size, I got mine in Large since the shirts are cut fitted. Most button-up shirts I wear are mediums. I like the fit of the large. I'm 5'10" and don't have a problem with the tail length. I've compared the Todd's large to many of my mediums and the tail is roughly the same length. Todd did introduce the Large+ size that fits the same through the body, but has a longer tail.
Regards,
Indiana Jeff

Pretty much what I do, wash in cold, just hang up and let it dry. Figure why take the chance and put it in a dryer and then find out I shouldn't have.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
That's so funny that this question was asked today. I just today washed my Todd's shirt and just put it on and no shrinkage. Now I will echo Indiana Jeff here WASH COLD and HANG DRY. I love Todds shirt and I might suggest ordering up a size? My first shirt XL was way to small I needed a XXL. I normaly wear a 17 1/2 -34-35 and I had to send mine back for the XXL. I hope this helps!

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
Yeah it is funny that this question came up because I had ordered one just the other day. Based on my understanding, Todd as revised and revamped his jacket and shirt sizes recently, and his shirt chart accordingly:
Coyle's Indiana Jones Shirt
Collar Sleeve Chest Waist
S 14" 33 1/2" -38" -34"
M 15" 34 1/2" -38" -38"
L-a 15 1/2" 35 1/2" -42" -38"
L-b 16" 35 1/2" -46" -43"
XL 17" 36 1/2" -50" -46"
XXL-a 17" 37" -50" -50"
XXL-b 18" 37 1/2" -54" -54
I trusted his chart and ordered an L-b.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
My Todd's shirt has been both hung to dry, and dryered. I haven't noticed much shrinkage. I can only speak for my experience, I'm sure someone's had shrinkage.

I washed mine in warm water and dried it in the dryer and at least with mine I did not notice any "shrinkage"........

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
I have one of these. Great fit, no shrinkage, looks far better than the picture illustrating it here.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
Well, I just ordered my shirt a few hours ago.
It's been a while since I've ordered anything from Todd, so do ya'll have an idea of about how long it will take my shirt to get to SC?
Thanks,
-Bogart

Which shipping method did you opt for? I'm impatient and always go for the expedited, which usually arrives within the week if I order early enough.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
I just went with the cheapest shipping they had. (which, is still kinda expensive; $10?) But I'm not in a huge hurry at the moment, and it'll teach me some patience...something I'm quite lacking in most of the time.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
I think it was Monday, along with some Fuller's earth. It is just a fit, exactly as the sizing chart describes, have washed it twice, and so far, none of the dreaded shrinkage.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
Has Todd corrected the length of these shirts now?
I ordered one of theses shirts in 2008. Ordered a Medium. Perfect fit but I always found the shirt to be a bit short. It alwys comes untucked rather quickly.
I want to get another shirt but am curious if this has been sorted.
Cheers IG78

Funny, when you don't want something to shrink, it usually does, when you do it doesn't. I'm rather impressed at how shrink resistant Todd's shirts are.Texan Scott wrote:It is just a fit, exactly as the sizing chart describes, have washed it twice, and so far, none of the dreaded shrinkage.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
JMHO, but the Todd's shirt appears to be made a little more durable, somewhat thicker than a NH and plenty of shirt tail. It appears to be made more like a regular shirt for day to day use. I assume that when he resized his charts, he did so with the shirts as well.
I have a NH, but it is more of a costume piece, so I ordered the Todd's which is a good #2.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
Yeah that was fast. I was surprised it got here that quick, but it was a very welcomed surprise for a Monday.
My first impression when I pulled it out of the bag... It's slightly more tannish than I was expecting, definitely not the color of the SOC shirt, but it doesn't look yellowish like I had seen mentioned about the earlier shirts. To me it looks pretty close to the color of the shirt in the Idol temple and some of the other scenes where the lighting is darker. (some may disagree, but then again, I'm not a complete stickler for SA, and don't have the same trained eye that many people here have. ) On the whole I love this shirt and can see it quickly becoming my favorite shirt. (And possibly another one in the not-so-distant future... ) When I pulled it out of the bag it had that "new shirt out of a plastic bag feel" and all the creases that go along with that, so I just got done washing it in COLD water and it's now hang drying in front of my dorm room window....with all kinds of nice wrinkles in it.
Overall, I love the shirt, and it's certainly much better than my Cabella's CE shirt.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
Yes it does. I wore it to a class a little bit ago, and while I was sitting in class I had my elbows on the desk and noticed that the epaulets "arch up" (for want of a better term) like Indy's does when he's drinking in the Marhala Bar. I had to suppress a slight grin as I noticed this.

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
I ordered a XXL-a shirt just now and used the 2-Day UPS option. I'm hoping it'll be here on Monday. If it ships today, I might actually see it show up on Friday. My last order was in the afternoon CST and it shipped same-day.
BTW, if you've never spoken to them on the phone, they're a delight. I had a question about my last order and they called me back very quickly and were a pleasure to deal with. Looking forward to adding the shirt.
Now...where can I get some pants quickly....

Re: Todd's shirt...shrinkage?
You should love your shirt when it gets to you. It's not quite the sone-ish grey-ish color of the SOC shirt, but it's a great Indy shirt, especially for the money.
