The vintage goat (left) has been worn for several months and the 747 cow is new in that photo

Detail of new 747

At this point I have samples of many of Tony's leathers and the 747 (hate that name!) certainly stands out. This is one heavy, thick cowhide that doesn't have the dryness others sometimes do, yet drapes like soft lamb. The color is absolute perfection. Great stuff. Wear this and people will notice.

If I could have just one I'd go for any of Tony's many goats because of the hard-wearing nature of that animal. If I wanted SA above all, I'd say shrunken lamb. If I wanted the best of both worlds with as much character as possible (a true vintage vibe in a leather that doesn't look like it's pre-distressed) I'd say 747.

Nobody but nobody can match these jackets, IMHO, and all Tony's leathers are winners.

You obviously don't need both, so feel free to send me the old one.

Man that vintage goat looks awesome! Thats a really nice looking jacket. Don't get me wrong, so is the 747, but I'm loving that goat one. The black liner with only the black flag looks really nice too.

You know that I love both of these. I broke down and ordered a 747.

I should note this is one of the decads old goat leathers Tony had in his shop and had enough to make two jackets from. This is one and Han Jones has the other in a beautiful ToD. But I just got a couple samples of new goat that will be up for a Pepsi Challenge against anything out there.

My feeling is the 747 cow is going to look fantastic after some hard wear.

Anyone has pics of the "new" goat?......Is this what Tony calls the "Holy Goat?"

Hey Raider, how heavy is the 747?......heavier than the CS?

Holy Goat is one of a number of goat leathers he has but is not the newest. Best bet is to contact him and get samples. I just got two new samples and one is very vintage like and amazingly stiff. He doesn't name everything - at least not as soon as he has them or develops them.

I don't have a CS so can't say if 747 is thicker. 747 certainly appears softer, however.

He has two 'vintage' goat skins, one with a dull finish one with a shiny finish. These are beautiful and distress nicely but quite stiff when new.

There is 'Supreme Goat' which is dark has a sheen to it, and the newest is 'nowak goat' which is slightly darker and has a more matt finish. It self distresses nicely as well. Both are soft as lamb

I think he has dropped the 'holy goat' but you ill have to confirm that with him. The 'Holy Goat' was a more expensive leather as well.

All of these are developed by TN and are not 'catalog' leathers.

For your ToD jacket PSBIndy I'd recommend 'Happy Cow' or 'Nowak Goat'

Loving them both and the break in on the goat really has a vintage ,couple of decades old look....did you do anything during the break in time ? ie water , sleeve wrinkles etc....I've got a 3-4 year old washed goat Wested that won't hold wrinkles like this ? a great looking pair !!...... :anxious: (don't say that with a girl in the room).........

RaiderS discussed it before and as I recall it isn't that hard, it obviously holds wrinkles from wear.

You can't get that goat anymore though Holt, it was the last of it. The new goat is what you want.

yep. I want the new stuff..

Tony called me this morning..I was sleeping..I heard something in the back round but wasnt sure what it was...

anyays he left a long message on my answering machine saying he will call me today and talk leather :D ( New goat)

RC since you have that goat sample.. could you please try to age and beat it up alittle..see how hard it is for some distressing to be shown. and see what kinda undertones it has...

could you do it?

I've already been playing with it some. If you want to artificially distress it it will distress nicely. If you want it to Naturally distress it will do that nicely too, but not as quickly. The undertones are all brown, just slightly lighter than the surface of the skin, which is very dark. This is the latest 'Nowak goat'
I love this leather. Its as soft as lamb, would be great for a Raiders or ToD jacket.

The 'Supreme goat' is soft as lamb as well, more shine to it than the new Nowak goat, and a slightly lighter brown to the undertone when distressed than the Nowak goat.

_, you might like Tony's 'new' vintage goat in the dull finish..... ;) :P

This is the new goat, 'Nowak goat' I'm sure he'll know what you mean if you say that.
It has a very very very slight sheen, not completely 'flat'

The vintage goat is not what you want.

I've only seen the Novapelle and washed goat from Wested in photos, and they look like they have a slight sheen but may be just flash. The washed goat though I think is more 'flat' than the novapelle.

Holt, welcome to the dark side of the force...

In all seriousness, tell Tony what you're hoping to see in a leather then try to get samples. I know people will try to describe them but having something in your hands is best even though it's still just a small piece.

Out of ten or so samples I have, there was maybe one I felt I wouldn't want a jacket made out of (and it was one I was really looking forward to).

I just got samples of the two newest goats and they are special. I prefer the Nowak goat over the vintage for some reason but would never hold myself to that opinion. Also consider looking at a cow too if only for comparison.

The 'new' Vintage goat is not 'lamb soft' so doesn't meet Holt's criteria

That goatskin has me thinking again too. :- I would gladly sell one of you guys into slavery (ala The Road to Morocco) for one of those TN goatskin jobbies.

Only the CS unless you ask for it on the others.
