Hi guys.


Not long ago i said I was to rebash my fed 4 standard into the LC hat. I really like the LC hat. but not as much as I love the SoC hat of course

well today I had it finished.

this is my favorite look for the LC hat. the really beat up and broken in one.

Bear in mind, getting the angles and the shadows to fall right is very difficult to get right. these pictures were the best out of the lot.

please tell me what you think

Looks great Eric! You really have an eye for this. The LC hat has always been my least favorite of the bunch. The only two scenes I actually liked the hat in are the bike chase and that one that you pictured. Great job!

Im trying to build a super SA LC outfit. thats why I wanted to remake the fed4. at first it was bashed in CS style. but I wet it down and took the pinch and bash out. LC is better for this type of hat I think.

The CS hat really needs that taper free block. The Federation doesn't have that. It does however lend it self perfectly to the LC look which you have pulled off in spades. And you've also proven that in the right hands, the Federation can make a great Raiders hat too.

I must admit I was very shocked how easy this was compared working on the SOC hat.

Yeah, I've gotta say, Holt... really, REALLY impressive job there!
I'm with Dave in that there's only a couple of times I really get to liking the look of the LC Hat in the movie (and the look I like is what you've managed to nail down!)
GREAT work!

The SoC hat has many factors to take into acount, as you well know. This hat is all about how you crease it. No need to worry about bulging and mushrooming felt. That isn't to take away from what you've done here. Creasing a hat to exact dimensions is not easy. You are the best on these boards that isn't a proper hatter.

yes. its one of my favoite looks aswell. I tried to get the chunky pinch look you have on your hat. But I didnt like the way it made the fed 4 look from the front. so I decided to go for my other favorite look. the poster hat.

here is picture I took two days ago. here you can see it has a much chunkier pinch. sorry its the only picture I have of it when I tried to go for the chunky pinch look hat.

sorry for my stupid smile, my girl said something really funny which cracked me up big time.

dang! I look like a cross between dicaprio and julia roberts or something.

That would be an HJ, whereas the one Holt copied on the top of this thread was probably the Stetson that was placed in the film. Fedora

I just really dont care for how I wreck the hat..... maby thayts my talent? to get them looking like Indys fedora they need alot of beating....I dunno...maby..

But what I can tell you is that I am a virgio and virgio's are very obsessed with details and keep going until they have it done right..... I can confirm this cuz I really cant sleep if I dont get the smallest detail right

Yep, and that's what we love about you. The rugged drive to get the smallest detail down pat.

it's all in your butt Holt. You must have the right shape and weight on your butt to give the hat the right shape when you sit on it.






"Crack the Hat/Crack it" is a good expression for that way of distressing i think
