Was this a special request or is this how Tony is making all his shrunken lambs now?

The length looking to long has to be an illusion, it's 23" in back. It gets us back to how the cut fits, allowing for the 23" back length.
In fact this jacket is 1:1 sized with the original.
i don't know how the colour appears on your screen but it's more likely a little darker in person than in the photos.
The colour duplicates the original TN had to copy back when. the Shrunken lamb hides were developed by him, not just tannery standard stock.

I think Tony will have it available but it won't necessarily be the 'standard'

Very nice. If you don't mind my asking, what are your vital jacket-related statistics (height, off-the-rack jacket size, shirt neck & sleeve size)? Thanks.

that_dog wrote:Very nice. If you don't mind my asking, what are your vital jacket-related statistics (height, off-the-rack jacket size, shirt neck & sleeve size)? Thanks.
Height 6' - 6'1"
o-t-r jacket size is very undependable. There is no consistency in o-t-r sizing and I can wear anything from a 40 - 43 usually in a long but sometimes a regular is cut right.
Shirt collar size for proper fit with a tie about 15. Shirt sleeve no less than 34. However shirt sizes especially sleeve length never translate well to jackets. A jacket that has sleeve length stated as for a shirt in 34 is always too short in the sleeve for me.
What specifically are you after?

Thanks for the reply. I'm just trying to get a feel for the fit of the jacket. I have one on order and I'm still figuring out where I need to vary from the original specs. I'm exactly 6'1", wear an OTR 40 long jacket, and a 16-35 shirt. I was planning on adding an inch to the length of the jacket and sleeves, and based on your pics and specs I think I will stick with that plan. Cheers.

My first TN Raider is 24" at the back. Honestly it falls in the same place as this one at 23", and Holt sees it as too long.
Unless you are really long in the torso I wouldn't add to the front length.
If your shirt sleeve length is 35 a 25.5 or 26" arm length is probably good. Assuming you are ordering a jacket in Shrunken lamb keep in mind that this leather stretches rather than take up in the sleeve like other leathers.
You can't compare the fit of this Raiders jacket with any other, the cut is just that different

thanks _.
It duplicates the Indy jacket quite well. People are just used to seeing these jackets in baby smooth skins.

Thanks for the additional info. Lots of data points to consider. Since my Expedition was 24" down the front and fit me well, I think I'll stick with that length. Yojimbo Jones's TN Raiders also looks short to me at 23" long, and he's 6'1" (I know, there's a whole thread on that, and I don't mean to stir anything up, but to me, the jacket looks short on him).
The sleeves are a little trickier... either 26 or 26.5. I'm going with the 747 cowhide, so some shrinkage from wrinking is a possibility. Plus, the measurements I sent Wested in '02 were for a 26.5 sleeve, and that fit me pretty well.

If you are going with the cowhide it will take up in the sleeves for sure.
The body length you have to be comfortable with.
I'm 6'1 depending on who measures me time of day etc. My shirts have to be long tailed to stay tucked in. I believe this length on me is right in line with the Raiders jacket in the movie.
As I said you really can't compare the fit of any other jacket with the cut of this.

Sorry for missing that nephilo
I've had the Raiders for a while now. Eventually I'll update the photos as it has been worn since those. I just received the ToD yesterday.
They both took a while to get. Tony worked to get the striated shrunken lamb right and worked to get the right pattern for the ToD, also developing hides for it. I think the wait was worth it.
If you were to order either now the wait would not be as long especially for the ToD. The striated shrunken lamb would depend on if he has to re order for it.
which leather will your LC be?

Well, RC, you already know that I absolutely love this jacket. So much in fact, that I'm over halfway there on having the capital to get one of my own.
And nephilo, I have my LC in his dark CS cowhide. I personally think it's a wonderful hide for the LC.

Maybe you actually need the extra length: I'm 6'1" as well, but I have a pretty long torso so Tony and I decided to go with 24 1/2" on my TN Raiders and it fits really well:
On jeans it might look a bit on the short side, but in gear you can see the jacket's spot-on.

Gert, that 24.5" is just in the back on yours?
I agree someone with a long torso will need the extra length, but due to the construction and behavior of this particular jacket on the shoulders, the conventions for determining jacket length for this one goes out the window. One could easily end up with it too long at back just because of how it falls. Of course some don't care if their jacket sits the same as in the movie, they just want or prefer longer jackets, and few of us are concerned about whips and holsters hanging up on the jacket interfering with quick access.

Geert, that is a great looking jacket. Thanks also for the info. I tend to fall into the "long torso, short legs" camp, so I am definitely going to go with a 24" front. And since I will be wearing the jacket with jeans and not gear, I am concerned about a "too short" look. I'm also willing to lose a touch of "screen accuracy" for a jacket that fits the way I want it to. (I'm even going to have the back an inch longer than the front. Heresy!)

ARGH. I was so comfortable with chipping away at credit card debt until I have it under control before ordering a new jacket, and you have to throw this in my face! Both new jackets are AWESOME!!!

Hey RC, sorry for the late reply, but I've been busy the past weeks and haven't been here as much as usual (which is every day normally). The back and the stormflap are both 24.5" on mine, so I didn't request any extra backlength or anything: I just needed more overall length for my long torso
I agree that the behaviour of the jacket negates the "relative shortness" of the back, but compared to most modern jackets it is still quite short (the entire jacket that is). Not that this is a bad thing, not at all it's an Indy jacket after all, and the are meant to be somewhat shorter than most modern jackets. My point was however that you can only accurately judge the length when you are wearing gear, because when you wear jeans it might look shorter than it really is because of how low they sit.
Regards, Geert

I love the fact that the side vents open up effortlessly. This is one of those minute details that the other vendors have struggled with.
I agree that the hide is a bit much for an Indy jacket but of course, as long as you're happy with it is the only thing that matters. I would like to see something in the middle. I dig the shrunken hide but just a bit more subtle. You are right though, that most people are too used to super-smooth hides. I'm not a fan of that either.

When you really start looking at movie stills especially higher resolution ones, closely studying them, you start to see that the jackets in the movie had a lot of graining, as much or even more than my jacket shown here. With most standard photos from the movie it pretty much disappears except for the striations on the right chest piece.
None of that matters really though as it boils down to what the individual wants for their jacket.
Tony has this available, although it might take a wait to get it, and also the less grained shrunken lamb.
Apparently Whiskyman's SL grain and texture is the closest match, almost exact, to the particular jacket TN had to copy, as an example.
