My sis is a 7th grade science teacher & this fall as well as each following school year I am going to go down to do a presentatiom on whipcracking & how a whip breaks the sound barrier. I am going to explain how a whip is made & pretty much what makes it tick. Something I would like for my presentation is a "partially made" indy-style whip. Something that shows the guts of a whip. It doesn't have to be anywhere near a full length whip. I am thinking about 18 inches long should do the trick.
I can't think of anything else I should have to or need to mention to the students. Can you guys think of anything?
Thanx!!!
Charlie
P.S. I am going to go in full CS gear.

I work at a summer camp and there is nothing I enjoy more than teaching the kids about how the whip works and cracking it a few times for them
I hope this goes well for you

Are you going to have time to show a video, or parts of one?

Well, you can use some or all of a beginning whip cracking DVD, splice in some action shots from any of the Indy DVDs. That could be a real fun project.

I always incorporate the bullwhip into my science class. Kids LOVE it!!!
My son entered the science fair last year and, upon the suggestion of a COW member, he did why a bullwhip cracks. He won first place!!!!
