Indy's Pocketknife...Reprise!!!!!!

Post by RonC »

I believe I have found it, amigos! Take a look at this link:

http://www.knifeshop.com

Select "English"

Select "Pocketknives"

Select: "Hunting Pocketknives"

Scroll down to "12300hh00"

Select it, and there it is!

...and I will be ordering one soon!

Ey, that one seems very accurate!! Good work!

That research work would be easier if Indy carried a "Swiss McGyver style" multiuse pocket knife!!

Hmmmm,
Could be. The scales and blade look good. It all comes down to the bolsters IMHO. We never get a look at the butt of the knife, so it could be bolsterless like the one you propose. Rob DFW's pix in this thread: http://www.indygear.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3965 don't seem to be showing up anymore, but if he re-posts them, maybe we could see if Indy's knife had those lines on the top bolsters.
If you buy one, let us know how flat the bolsters are as well, because all of the canidates that we have found so far are too round.
Nice work!

PrettyBigguy, it does have the lines in the bolster, I have a copy of the picture from the scene in the tent. And the bolsters on this knife are flat. In my previous post on Indy's pocketknife, this is the knife to which I referred. I have had the opportunity in the past to handle one. I will let you know for sure when I get it in my hands!

Swindiana, I ordered it from "The Knifeshop" in Vienna, Austria...I asked for Express Shipping, so I should have it within 10 days or so (the wait is due to the fact that they have to get the knife in from Hubertus in Germany)....the good thing is, I did not have to pay the V.A.T.!

Sounds good!
I like knifes a lot and just won a Victorinox Swiss champ on eBay... I probably have to order one of these knifes too though but I'll wait until your review.

Just got word from "Knifeshop" in Vienna that my "Indy pocketknife" has been dispatched via airmail...will let you all know when it arrives! Also, just for everyone's info, the total cost for the pocketknife, shipped, was $82.28 (via airmail to the States).

Received my Indy pocketknife in the mail today!!!! Yes, friends, I believe we have a winner here! The bolsters are identical to those on the movie knife...flat with the lines going across. One difference...although it's not truly a "difference"...are the stag scales. At the time the movie was made, Hubertus (the company making this knife) was using Indian Sambar Stag for its scales...they are a little flatter than the ones on my knife. The company now uses European Red Stag for its scales (due to an embargo by the Indian government on Sambar Stag exports). Other than that, the knife is as similar to the one Indy carried as we are probably going to get...I will get pics for all to see as soon as I can (I do not have any webhosting for photos at the moment).

Ron,
So, what was the cost in dollars including shipping? It looks pretty good to me. Good show.

Agent5, the total cost, with shipping, was $83. It will take about a week to arrive, once the order is placed (in the States). The Knifeshop in Vienna gives GREAT service! I highly recommend them.

Pyr, thank you VERY much, sir! Now everyone will get a good look at them side-by-side. I think it's as close as we'll likely get.

Agent5, I might add that I received better service form Martin at the Knifeshop in Vienna than from some rather well-known online cutlery shops here in the States! You will not regret doing business with him.

An update: I've been carrying this fine pocketknife for several weeks now...I highly recommend it to everyone! Although it seems a little "bulky" at first, it fits in your pocket quite well...and it has excellent steel in the blade. You won't go wrong by adding this to your Indy gear!...and who knows?...you might need it to cut your "Marion" loose and rescue her!!!! :D

Got my knife today. Many thanks to RonC. This is a great knife and has already been "admired" by several people here in the office.

Thanks,
Pyro.

ok....
i got to admit i love my knife....it IS the one...
my father used to work at a knife shop at the
time of the movies and when he saw the knife
he knew exactly what it was. I love the stag handle,
very high quality, i love it a lot. we ordered it directly
from hurbertus.- germany, we had the stag formation
in the picture matched to the knife, mine looks very
simillar to the film knife.
