CS bashing advices

Post by steerpike »

Hallo,
I own a Federation IV deluxe, and I tryed to give it a CS bash.. I rode the various advices on the forum, but I'm not shure I did it at best, expecially after seeing the movie again. What do you think? any advices to give it a more SA shape?

Nice bash but you're right, not very CS. Your front pinch comes down too far for a CS bash and your center dent is too shallow. Try having it come down a little further in back. But then again maybe this bash the way you have it looks right on YOU. Keep that in mind.

your bash is pretty good, but you might want to define the side curves. ya see, the CS hat looks very similar to the Raiders' one, seen from the side.

take a look at this tutorial

http://adventure-realm.com/raidersbash.html

follow the step number 5 to obtain nice side curves ;)

One of the ONLY complaints I had about my 2 Feds was that I couldn't get a deep enough center dent. Don't know if it was a problem with my bashing or if the crown is a little low.

It's not the crown height being to low but the shape of the block. I know most think if you just get a taller crown you have more material to crease into the center of the hat.

Spread open the front crease (pinch).

Yeah, notice how the CS center pinch has more of a "triangle" shape to it and is not quite as tight of a pinch:

hey, if you tighten that pinch up a bit
you could get a good Raiders hat out of it.

I love how it looks, though it looks more Raiders to my eye.

concurred

The pinch is a bit tighter than CS but looser than Raiders. It screams Indy but is distinct. Great job. :TOH:

thank you guys. the big thing I've learned is that a bit of sand on the hat make a difference. But - honestly - actually I've no courage to put it on my Raiders Penman...
