Block Ratio

For any hat makers out there..
What would be the perfect ratio...(Length to Width)...of a 'Indy'Hatblock??

Anyone??

The Indy hats were all regular ovals. So, the blocks run from 1 3/8 to 1 1/2 differential, depending upon the blockmaker. Mine are the 1 3/8, but I have seen some that were 1 1/2. So, a size 7 1/4, 58 cm, generally should be at the hole, 7 7/8 inches long, by 6 1/2 inches wide, or a 1 3/8 differential. As you move to a long oval, and upwards, the differentials increase, as the hat gets longer, or the ovals are more oblonged. Fedora
