Wow it seems today is the day for COW members to get their new whips..........like me today when I got my airmail package with my new Terry Jacka stock whip in my favorite colors-red and black! These thing handles like a dream!

I really like the last shot. I guess that must be the cracker making the blurr right in the middle of the shot. That'd be a tough shot to duplicate!

That IS a great (and one in a million) shot you got there! Nice! And I like the color of that whip, too. Not often you see red leather whips, especially around here.

Congrats on your new stockwhip, Bob! It was until I got back to whipmaking that I started loving stock whips! They're indeed, as the late Ron Edwards said "The prince of whips". They are so agile, light and sting like a bee. They crack with very little effort.

It is interesting to see that whip has no swell in the thong. I have only made stock whips with a swell for some inches near the keeper. I bet that whip is a tad heavier than those with the swell. I'll make a stock whip with no swell and see for myself what the difference really is.

Man, your collection is growing really fast. Congrats again.

Thanks for all the comments. I too was so pleased with the last picture, The popper right in front of the camera! And that is my new little Nikon CoolPix, photo taken by my wife-who definitely trusts me to measure the right distance between her and me! The whip is a 6 foot stock, 24 inch handle and a 30 inch fall, so I had her about 12-13 feet away!

I have to tell you after working with this whip for a bit, it handles like a dream. Easy to crack, easy to control and very accurate. I can definitely see the handling characteristics between the stock and bull whips. This whip has good weight to it and that is why I think it rolls out nicely and cracks so easily. My favorite to do with it is 12 to 15 slow figure eights with it in a continuous motion.

And yes the collection has grown sense I started this whip cracking thing. And believe it or not next weekend will be my one year anniversary with whip cracking when forum friend Adam Winrich sent me home with the original 14 footer!

And speaking of Adam, I had the pure pleasure of seeing him preform twice this past weekend, the first weekend of the Bristol Ren Fair. Watching him work is just pure pleasure!
