These are pretty spot on from a style standpoint, other than the lack of a moc toe. Look pretty good -- thought I'd share the link.

Based on the prices of the other boots on their website, I'd guess they'll be in the $150-170 range.

Those look nice, I have loved both pairs of wolverine boots I have owned.
Not to detract from those boots I saw these recently in an LL Bean catalog,
http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... -sub2&np=Y They have some added detail but look fairly Indy-like at a non-alden price.

For that price, you might as well get the real thing. Todd's boots are the best alternative and much cheaper than most "look-a-likes".

Those would be perfect close enoughs if it weren't for the lack of a moc toe stitch.

I found these today looking for a near enough cool summer boot without all the bally laces to do up!
Under the trousers they'd look the part.
I was thinking to just carefully run a double line of hand stitch around the toe for effect.

The 1000 mile boot only comes in D and EEE widths, at least in brown. Not fit for me with that company, and for that price, I'd go with Alden and get the real thing.
The Desert boot above gives very little ankle support. It's more of a weekend backyard BBQ boot than for Indy adventuring.

Depends on the adventure, and the ankles! I wear desert boots even treking. It's a personal choice, they offer me a good comprimise between weight, support and flexibility - especially on steep slopes. I feel I can 'read' the terrain's firmness better through the thinner soles.

Just a heads up: I found the 1000 Mile boot on Amazon for $191.93. Bought 2 pair. I love this boot. It's a repro from the early 1900's and just screams the Indy vibe. Caveat: I'm not an "SA" kind of guy and really don't like the look of the Aldens. If there's any interest I'll post some pics and reviews in a couple weeks.

Great. Give me a couple weeks. I'm on the road right now, but my wife says they arrived in the mail today.
Couldn't believe the price either. I've seen them advertised for $325.

Ok, so, I ordered a pair as well. There was one left in stock in my size and it's free shipping, so I figured it's at least worth looking at --- especially @ $191 when I see others have paid $325 ... I'm not sure how that happened ....
I'll post photos and thoughts when these arrive as well.

Hey everyone, I just received a reply from the PR person at Wolverine re: the Darby Boots:
Thanks for your email and interest in the 1000 Mile Collection! I am glad that you are interested in the Darby boot, its one of my favorites in the collection as well. Rest assured, and hoping to squelch any rumors, we will be releasing the Darby and the rest of the collection this fall. The only shoe that won't be available at retail is the Gentry collection. We released just the original boots made in the US a little earlier this summer, which have been received extremely well!
The rest of the collection is arriving in our warehouses this month and we will be sending them out. I will have list of retailers posted on our website (
www.wolverine1000mile.com) very soon!

Thanks for the tip Dragonlady Jones. I have no complaints so far especially since price was such less than $325.

That's too bad. Although it still seems kind of odd they were selling them for $191 in the first place without making note of any 'sale'. My order is still in at the cheaper price, but they haven't shipped yet. Paranoia ensues....

It seems the 1000 miles started out at over $300.00 at the Scoop store in NY, then dropped to under $200.00 later. I have been wondering why? Did the initial production just not sell well? I am sure Wolverine has price controls. Maybe someone knows the story. I'd love to find the Darby's at a similar low price (when they are released), and there is no way I'll pay over $300.00 when there is the possibility of the price dropping after a few weeks. I did read somewhere that the 1000 mile edition developed a very noticeable crease at mid-foot after awhile.

Just got the official word that the Darby boots will be out during the last week in October.
List price will be $225.00, but some retailers will be selling them for under $190.00.
I'll post retailer data in the next 20-30 days once I get confirmation.

Did anyone end up getting theirs at $191 through Amazon? After almost a month, I just was told that it was canceled. Apparently the supplier was selling shoes they never had in stock and Wolverine didn't deliver to them. Nice ...

Those Wolverines are gorgeous boots. Here are my budget Indy boots. Picked them up at my local workwear place for $35 last year. They were made by a Canadian company named Daoust who also made awesome skates back in the day. The store had a rack of these, which have probably been sitting in the stock room since the 80's because I think the Daoust brand was bought and disappeared in the late 80's, early 90's. These aren't very screen accurate, and the heel is too high, but I'm thinking about taking them to a boot maker and getting 1/4" or so shaved off.

Belated reply and update on the Darby boots.
I received mine in January and wanted to break them in.
Simply put... the leather is really thin and they are very uncomfortable. The boot developed a crease, or weak area where the sewing crosses over the top of the foot, just above the toes. This crease digs into the top of my foot and is very uncomfortable.
Not sure if others had the same issue.
Just a heads-up as they are very expensive boots.
