Hello,

I'm looking for a Indy jacket, but 100% screen accuracy is not important for me. So to speak 95% is OK.
What I want is something that is wearable and versatile as a piece of clothing, with a slimming fit, and not so expensive.
I'd settle for off the rack sizing, although my arms are 1.5" (3-4cm) shorter than usual (always have a problem with sleeves being too long, almost at the knuckle).
Noticed that most jackets run around 150-200$ of the rack, which is fair, but ca 500$ for custom. I wouldn't want to pay that just to have shorter sleeves.

However, there is also too much offering out there for me to make up my mind. I see Wested is usually larger, not so slim fit. Are there any other options in Europe (I'd want to minimise shipping costs, but perhaps the dollar will continue to depreciate to my benefit?). Shorter sleeves and slim fit are the most important criteria for me. It's hard to find consistent feedback on the other vendors.

All things being equal, getting the sleeves shortened on an Indy jacket is one of the easiest things to do, it is not a complicated cuff.

I agree with KT re the cuffs.

I'd just go a Todds standard - they are a slimmer cut as far as i know (Todd's owners?) - and are cheap enough to make your EU import duties bearable.

Todd's standard was my first thought when I read about your requirements.

If you get hit by import duty on a Todd you may as well go with a EU jacket. Mine cost me £60 in tax.

BUT if you are a size 38 or 40 I have a Todd I will sell you for €100.

I think I'm a 38! Who do I ask to shorten sleeves? I'm not sure about finding people here in my neighborhood.

you can just shorten the sleeves yourself. just unfold the sleeve cuff and fold it again on your prefered length.

I ship to Canada all the time and have not had complaints about import duties.

I just took the measuring tape, I'm 36 chest and 31 waist, therefore the need for a slimfit (tiny waist). I guess the 38 will be too big, going from the dimensions on Todd's site (38-40c & 36-38w). I also noticed that Wested's smallest size is 38. That narrows the supply down to Todds.

No, the cuffs are made by folding the leather to the inside of the sleeve. You just have to fold a little more in.

KT asked me my height. I'm 5'10 (178cm)cm (long torso). I guess the 22" length of the Todd is going to be too short. My regular polos are around 63cm (24.5") (with collar) Perhaps I should do some weight training to solve my odd sizing.
It's been suggested I try the junior version that Wested sells. Looking at the measurements, it might work! I'll probably be in the UK in August and I'll try to hop in at Wested and try the different sizes, that's the best option ATM.

I believe that the waist measurement is completely around the waist, not your pant size. I wear a size 30-31 pant size, but my waist measurement is 35.5" around. The Todd's may be the better bet for you especially price point wise. Also I have read that a lot of people find them slimmer then usual, so they must upsize, but in your case Todd's sizing for the jacket you are looking at may be perfect for you.

Somehow I think you're going to have to go with a custom.

You are pretty average height but quuite slim, of course it wouldn't hurt to go in and look. I doubt that the youth jacket will fit, considering your height, I think they are designed for around 5ft tall.

Going by the numbers on the Wested site: junior jacket in size 36: 25" backlength, 22" armlength. It's 3" longer than the Todds of the same size, and the arms are a bit shorter (just like mine). Let's see what happens. It would be funny if I can get a childrens model for 75£.

(BTW, waist, that is the narrowest part of your torso, right? Just above the navel. That's where I measured)

It does indeed sound like you will need a custom based on your measurements. Both Todd and Wested should be able to suit your needs.

I've owned many jackets and will say this: yes, I think you should get a Nowak jacket if you want a perfect fit, quality and the Indy look!

Now, now. I pull a flaming heart out of a native every night to sacrifice to Tony but I told him that Todd's was probably his best bet for the fit and price he specified.

Hey Dunross, I noticed you are from the People's Republik. How can you justify such a luxury item anyway? Wouldn't your comrades get upset? JK

As for the jacket, best of luck finding a fit. I hear short arms are quite a struggle, but you read on here that for the jacket it should be an easy fix.

Also for shortening sleeves, if you choose to wet the jacket and cinch up the sleeves to get the wrinkled sleeve look, the sleeves will get shorter. Just a thought.

I wouldn't necessarily go by the length of a Polo to judge what a Raiders jacket will be like. The back length of a Raiders jacket is usually given from the bottom of the collar stand for one thing. But you don't want to order from the US and have it wrong.

You don't want to spend much money but I think you may need to get a custom sized jacket.

Some say that - but having owned dozens of leathers and having washed many of them in the washing machine, I have never had a sleeve change in length.

Well, to get the sleeves to shorten you have to put it on wet, then scrunch up the sleeves and let it be that way for awhile. I did that to my first Todd's and it looked great-really worn in-but the sleeves were probably an inch shorter.

Wrong ) Home state is CA!

Based on what you want, it would be best for you to get a Todd's standard and have a local tailor alter sleeves.
