Joe Jr. Fedora

Post by RonC »

I was wondering if anyone knows the normal delivery time for a JP Indy custom fedora? I'm thinking of ordering one.

It depends on 1) One when you order it 2) How many people are ahead of you. I think the current wait is 6 weeks. I ordered my after his cut-off date (one week after) and it took 4 months, but it was worth it. So to me 6 weeks doesn't seem that long.

Notta problem... I'm waiting for my "Temple Of Doom" style hat from Joe Jr. now, its been about 5 weeks now since my order. What type of fedora are you wanting? If I may ask. :) Thats my PetersBros. "Raiders" fedora in my avatar. Brett

Ron,

When I spoke to Joe to order my Raiders fedora, the conversation went something like this,

Pyro: "Joe, I want to order a Raiders fedora."
Joe: "Great, what scene?"
P: "Raven Bar scene"
J: "Which part of the Raven Bar scene?"
P: "What do you mean?"
J: " I have the movie on my computer. I can break it down to the 10th of a second. Which part?"

He can make you just about anything you want. I am a big guy and said I need the brim wider and crown taller. He nailed it perfectly.

I suggest sending him a picture, if you can, so he can see how far apart your cheek bones are and the basic shape of your head. If you have the time, a visit to his shop is like a walk back to the 30's. Really neat place.

Here are some shots of my hat.

The ribbon on this hat is a little wider because of the tall crown I requested. Unlike the IJ fedora in the movies but like a real-world cowboy hat, the felt is really stiff. I'll wear mine when we meet up in the coming week(s).

Proportions... Why does it have to be proportions?

I've always thought about that when thinking about getting a Fedora. There seems to be screen accurate and then again the fitting. It puzzles me a bit when thinking about ordering a lid from Hats Direct. Are there any methods out there at all to get any ideas on how the hat would fit you proportionally?
I know this might be a bit too picky if you will, but some guide lines would be interesting.

Regards,
/Swedish Indiana
