My first photo on COW - "be gentle with me!"

Post by Snapbrim76 »

Here is me wearing my old tapered, beaten up, stained, sun scorched, rain soaked, dusty old Akubra Federation with a hole in the pinch that I bought in 2002. It travelled across Australia with me when I went backpacking and really took some punishment with regards to weather extremes. Hooray - I've finally managed to get an image up on COW - it wasn't easy for a 33 year old technophobe. I do use computers to make music on Cubase but that (and COW) is about the full extent of my computer usage. :Plymouth:

Sorry its not a great quality image but I took this photo myself on my phone in front of the mirror - which will explain why the bow is on the wrong side (if you can even see it!). And that funny face I'm pulling is me desparately trying to stop the camera shaking as I press the button. If I told you how many attempts this took, you wouldn't believe me. I'm gonna make a concerted effort to get to know my technology a lot better in the future. Then you'll see a lot more of my pics in future. Next time I might get a friend to take the picture, but I'll be honest, you guys on COW are the only people I know that share my interest in fedoras.

Apart from Indy fedoras, I collect hats (mostly felt) If anyone else on COW is a hat collector, I'd be happy to take pics of all of my fedoras, trilbys, panamas, bush hats, westerns, top hats, homburgs etc. I have a fairly good collection now.

Maybe someone can help you reduce the size. Otherwise, you're doing a heck of a lot better than I am posting photos! :M:

Now THAT is an old friend!

I collect hats too. I would love to see some of the other hats in your collection.

Yeah, I'd like to second (and third) that request... post up the links! We'd love to see 'em.
And like Randy said, Snapbrim76: That hat's definitely "gone there"... and while each of us has our own ideas about what makes a hat the "right" hat (or "right look") for them... I personally think that a hat becomes that much more beautiful (and full of character) when it "wears it's adventure on it's sleeve" - so to speak.
:TOH:
I think that's a great hat... no apologies required.
(And that ain't me bein' gentle)
;)
Cheers,
Mitch

Thanks, Fox. That was taken after about five hours of cleaning stables. It wasn't a pose that I did. That is just pure exhaustion you see in that picture. I'll put up a full sized one in the Penman Post 'em Up threadfor ya. ;)

Thanks everyone, it really has become the most comfortable hat.

Mitch, I'm glad you feel that way. In my opinion it has developed great character and I love theway it looks - hole and all. I'm glad you wanna see the others too. Coming soon...

Tundraider Michael, that's very kind of you. I'm doing a lot of trial and error and although I'm gradually gettin there, it would be so helpful to have someone give me the odd pointer. I'll definately pm if I get stuck.

Randy, it sure has. That hat is on my head almost all the time - even in the bath (while I'm not washing my head). Although it's stained and 'charismatic' it doesn't smell at all and I will wear it til its unwearable and then it will be a 'museum piece' in my bedroom.

Many thanks to everyone for their support and kind words...Watch this space for more pictures of all my other hats!
