My Herbert Johnson reblocked with my own new Block

Hello! The last week, i reblocked my Herbert Johnson with my last block. Since 1 month, i worked more 70 hours on this block because i redrew the base of the block and i believe that is the best design base for a Raiders hat. It's my best Raiders block that i made so far.
I would like to have your opinion and i would like to have the opinion to Steve Delk and the Garrison Hatters because i have realy the respect for these Hatters.
Please Guys, i don't sell this hat and i don't sell the hats, maybe one or two years. I believe that the hat makeur profession is hard, especially since I read the article by Marc. Me, i'm very busy by my work and my familly. Now it's just a hobby, Thanks for your comprehension.
On these pictures, my herbert Johnson is not finish, i did not made yet the SOC modification, maybe later but i love the result and i like the sixth picture.
Thank for looking!
Jason

I think you did an outstanding job!!! And I salute you for it. This is really what this Indy Gear deal is all about. You are doing just like what I did, and others here. Isn't it alot of great fun? Keep it up, and enjoy this hatting craft. The enjoyment one gets from making his own hat is immense. And very gratifying. Plus, it keeps you out of trouble!!!
So, all I can say is........

Nice hat! 70 hours is crazy, but extreme dedication pays off, and you can see it in your hat!
Every time I see one of you hats, its screams Raiders! Love them!
PS: Where'd you get that sweet Raiders shirt? I've been looking for one just like that.

Thank you for your opinion, i appreciate.
On these picture, it's my own sweet shirt that i made with a printer kit, ideal for made your own sweet shirt. I drew the Raider of the Lost Ark logo on a white paper and after, i scan the logo and i print with a special paper for the sweet shirt.
It's not a joke, i work on this t-shirt approximately 8 hours. I'm a lite bit crazy, lol. No it's just a passion and i'm very perfectionist.

Wow, that looks great! Now that's a real beater hat.
Is that brim a result of the reblock or did you cut it like that?
I'm building a foam block for my old Fed III right now!
High regards,
Richard

Thanks for you comment! I did not cut the brim, i think that the brim is a little bite to short but it's ok for me.
Thanks!

WOW
Absolutely fantastic! I search all over Oklahoma trying to find a hatter who could re-block a couple of my hats, but they only do cowboy hats!

Do you soak your hats when you reblock them? The reason I ask is, I tried a couple of times t reblock my old HJs and each timethey shrank terribly and could not be stretched again. Each time they ended in the bin!

your attention to detail has paid off. Looks like the hat in the streets of Cairo and truck chase scenes.

I think that the Garrison hat is the very good Cairo hat and the Adventurebilt with a ultimate Raiders Block too. I'm almost certain that WE use the similar hat block.
A day, i would like to meet Steve and Dave for talk to the perfect Raiders hat. I think that this meeting will be very interesting.

That's an amazing hat you've got there. All too often we see photos of brand-spanking new hats, and while they look real nice in their own right, there's something "Indy" about them that's missing. You've nailed the shape, the brim swoops, the ribbon, the sweat and grime that would come from the sorts of adventures Indy would go on. You've captured everything great about the "Streets of Cairo" and "Truck Chase" scenes.
Very well done!

Jason,
You are
truly an amazing and talented Artist with the passion (and the
eye for attention to detail that I put up there with Steve, Marc, John & David.)
(PLUS, I think you are the
EXACT "right amount of crazy"... in fact, MORE of us should be crazy like you!)
BEST of Luck with ALL you are trying to do!
Mitch

Awesome looking hat!
Really captures the spirit of Indy, and the fact you did it all yourself shows some serious enthusiasm for getting the look right. Often times people are satisfied to just settle for something, but it seems most of us gearheads are far beyond just settling for anything when it comes to Dr. Jones. You really did an awesome job!

I do not soak the felt, i use a electric head with soak towel. You are right, the HJ felt is realy
sensitive and he shrunk but i keep on the hat block one week.
Thanks!

Wow, the realy good comment Mitch, thanks and i appreciate this very much. I think that I have a lot of patience and I am extremely perfectionist. The last month, when i decided to make a another Hat Block, before to start, i'm sat down with my hats and the many Raiders pictures and i reflected and analyze the fedora that Harrison wore many hours by day before to start the building ( Look the Picture ). After analyze, i decided redrawn my Hat Block and it was the good choice. Now, i take a brake for one month because it's very exhausting and i have a family too.
Thanks!
Jason
P.S. I know Steve, Marc and David but who is John, i don't know who is John, sorry.

That would be our very own BendingOak from the Penman Hat Company.
I forgot to ask, what did you use for the dirt?
Again great job!

Bullitt just beat me to it, but he's right:
I was talking about
"BendingOak"... John Penman of the Penman Hat Co.
Easily one of the
Top Men to ever share his hatmaking skills with this community.
I've often said this Jason, but while I
am glad you've decided to share a peek of your fine hats with us (and while I know a bunch of us have asked you "how much can I pay you for one of your hats?")... I'm SO glad you've got your priorities straight:
Time with family FIRST.
(Starting tomorrow, I'm actually off to visit
my family in Alberta for a couple of weeks! So, I'll wave down to you as my plane flies over Quebec!)
I hope you have a
GREAT summer, my friend!

For the dirt, i use the Fuller Earth for this hat but for make a permanent sweat band, i use the javex water whip a Q-Tip but i do not recommend it.
