My distressed Mk VII bag

I've been asked to share how I distressed my bag so I figured I might as well make a short thread on it.

Here's pictures:

The bag is a Magnoli Clothiers bag I bought a few months back.
I wanted to distress the bag in a natural way, so I took the bag with me outside and rubbed it up against a concrete wall. I also dragged it around in the gravel. Next I took a lot of dirt and got the bag pretty dirty, then brushed of the worst of it.
Next I took a knife and began cutting it in places where distressing would naturally occur; the edges of the bag, the strap where the rings are attached, basically anywhere where the bag might be most exposed to a surface.
I think that somewhere along the way I must have cut some thread because holes appeared and they started to expand, so I had to make some emergency repairs before it got out of hand. It turned out really well and only added to it's authenticity.

I hope you guys like it.

Great distressing and attention to detail. I think your dirt addition even improved the color!

Good show.

Although I don't practice the "dark art of artificial distressing*", the bag looks great brother!

A funny thing is that the back of the bag has turned blue. It's subtle, but noticeable. Can't get a prober picture of it though. It must have been my blue jeans or something that affected the bag.

It's not a problem though, I'm going to buy an original bag at some point anyway. This bag proved so useful that I turned into my personal everyday bag. I don't go anywhere without it.

Greatdane, what about a good pic of the strap and buckle.......will Magnoli do any distressing on this item before shipping ?

I don't think you will be that interested in the strap or buckle because I don't have any of them :) The strap I'm using right now is just a temporary one.
I know Magnoli offers a distressed bagstrap, but I'm not sure if the buckle itself is distressed. Personally I'm ordering some of Wade's stuff, I just need to save up enough so I can order both belts and the strap in one package.
