I must be mad starting another thread - but I really liked these pics and thought I'd share them with all those fellow fans of shrunken lamb. Taken today, it was too hot for 747. Antipodians take note, I am in no way complaining in this thread - and especially for Holt, I've even smiling!

For those looking for an alternative to the lamb, I'd say the 747 cowhide is an outstanding choice that captures some of the texture and depth of the shrunken lamb. Mine must be the nicest leather I've had my hands on.

It really looks great on you Whiskyman. Looks like it fits well, just keep wearing it.

You found it to be OK on a hotter day?

That's not my parrot - i found it sitting ona deckchair so it was only a brief acquaintance.

A couple more pics from today - first time I've gone hiking in gear in about 4 years!! Was a lot of fun.

I've probably said this a few times about various jackets over the past year, but right now, that is the best and most accurate
Raiders jacket reproduction I have seen. Simply superb, and it's nice seeing pictures of it worn in it's 'natural habitat'.

If I'd known how few people I was going to meet I would've taken a bullwhip along as well.
I think outdoor pics are the best when it comes to photographing jackets, hats etc..

BTW, lamb is the way to go for a Raiders jacket. not goat, cow, horse. Not even soft goat from wested when I think about it...even though I have it...

dont get me wrong, I love the other hides, but for the acurrate Raiders look it must be lambskin..... The pictures proove it.

This jacket really looks great in photos. It really looks the part.

I don't think this is a promise he can make even if he wanted to. From past experiences I don't think he has control over this issue. It just ends up happening.

When I originally gave Tony a few measurements and a couple of pics, he said my jacket would be the same size as Ford's. I think that's probably true - when I tried on the TOD jacket at MBA, it fit me perfectly!

Between ToD (the jacket whiskey tried on at Noel Howards was from TofD, and the one whiskey said fit perfectly) and CS, Ford went from a size 42 to a size 44.

So, yes, Ford has changed....just like the rest of us as we've aged.

Yet Tony tells us his jackets front chest measurement was 22". That makes it a size 40. I'm sure RC can confirm this.
In fact, I recall RC posting that some might find it strange that the chest measurement for the Raiders jacket Tony had was 22.5, larger
than the 22 inches of the CS jacket.
Where did this idea of it being a 44 come from? Unless you're using the odd notion that 2x22 inches gives you a size 44?

Yep and 42 in TOD because he had to bulk up for the shirtless scenes !

I don't think you even need measurements to see that Ford is MUCH stockier now than in his Raiders and TOD days.

I remember in years past Lee Keppler telling me in all his studies and research just how pleased he was to own and wear jackets that were the exact same size that Ford wore in Raiders. Lee wears size 40.

Whatever guys. I still say it was a size 40, as Tony's measurements suggest.
I'm happy to be proven wrong though. And pics of a 'buff' Ford don't tell us his jacket size.

In fact now that I think of it, forget trying to prove me wrong.
I've ordered second a Crystal Skull jacket from Tony, this time slightly larger in the shoulders, and half an inch off the chest.
It's pretty much exactly the specs on Tony's website, minus an inch of the sleeves.
Going over the specs with me over the phone, Tony said 'So, we're going with Ford's measurements this time, ok'.
These measurements included the 22 inch front chest measurement. 22 inches x 2 = 44 inches.
This is standard sizing for a size 40 jacket with 4 inches of room. Don't be fooled by the 44.
It's a size 40 folks. Ford isn't getting bigger, he's 60+, he's shrinking. He is in great shape though, granted.
Pics can be deceiving.

Speaking for myself, kevin, I'm not going by photos.

Not sure about your 'chart', but I just pulled my G&B Expedition out of my closet this very minute. It measures 22 inches side to side front, 22 inches side to side back. 22 x 2= 44. It's marked size 44T.

I pulled my U. S. Wings VIP out. 22 inches front. 22 inches back, 22 x 2 =44. Their chart marks their 'L' to fit size 44-46.

I just pulled my Wested cloth Raiders out. 22 inches front. 22 inches back. 22 x 2 = 44. It's marked 44.

So, there's 3 manufacturers who match your measurements, and NONE of them come up with a size 40. Two of the jackets are custom, one OTR.

There's no way in the WORLD I can get my carcass in a size 40....well, maybe my leg, but something seems amiss in your chart.

Well, what are you going by then? What evidence do you have that it's a size 44, when the measurments identify it as a size 40?
Sorry to keep going on about this, but it's had me baffled for ages every time the size of the CS is referred to as a 44...
Please enlighten me, I don't claim to know everything, and I'm humble enough to admit I'm wrong, when I'm wrong.

Just to be clear, I'm not try to prove you right OR wrong. I honestly don't care one way or the other. If that's your contention, so be it...but I do want to point out to you that no other company we deal with seems to go by the chart you're using in determining size.

Well, I didn't mention any 'chart'...
However, I can see where we're getting confused here. I think several members had a similar discussion way back in the Nowak owners
thread months ago. Sizing confusion.
I think many will agree that a size 40 jacket is for someone with a 40 inch chest.
But it's not going to be exactly 40 inches around, that would make it very tight. Room is added, usually 2+ inches, making 4 or so inches of room.
So, my jacket, and Ford's, would be 22 inches from armpit to armpit, (where the chest measurement is supposed to be taken).
20 inches for the half-chest measurement, plus 2 inches for room. Multiply that by two and of course you get a jacket that is 44 inches around
the chest.
However, if you don't call a jacket that has an armpit to armpit (front chest) measurement of 22 inches a size 40, then fair enough. Call it whatever you want, but it is a size 40.
On a related note, my G&B Expedition, size 40, is large around the chest. Laid flat, armpit to armpit it's about 23.5 inches, making it closer to a 42.
Don't many say that G&B make their jackets slightly larger?
It's quite loose around the chest. Very comfortable though.

Look kevin, if Ford was a size 40, 30 years ago and he is more buffed now, that means he is not a size 40 ! and a 44 sounds much more plausible then a 40.

I know Ford is in great shape. A 40 inch chest, like mine, is not exactly small, folks, especially for a fellow of Harrison's age.
I work out quite a bit, and I'm a very similar shape to Ford in those last few pics. And I wear a 40R.
And I just went and typed 'measurement' three more times. I always miss the second 'e'.

I've heard that possibility mentioned before, Raider....

I understand where youre coming from, kevin, and you're right, this comes up every 6-8 months or so, and I believe we all walk away just as confused as when we walked in.

Where's FLATHEAD when you need him? He has a better handle on this than I do.

As I've always understood things, you include the 4 inches in the size, NOT subtract it. So, if you have a 40 inch chest with 4 inches of play added, it's a size 44 to the industry, not a size 40. My jackets seem to hold true to that 'theory', and they're made by manufacturers from around the world.

(Oh, and I didn't mean to come across 'hard edged' when I said 'I didn't care'. It's just in the big picture, it's one of those things that really doesn't matter between friends when it comes right down to it. TOH )

No hard feelings whatsoever, Michaelson, and I enjoy the debate when it's friendly and civil.
It's something I wanted to get to the bottom of, but you're right, it's not exactly critical.
I think it comes down to ones definition of sizes, and we know that changes from continent to continent, and manufacturer to manufacturer.
I will still maintain it's a 40, but I respect the opinion that it is a 44.

I see what you're saying about standard jacket sizes and their measurements, Kevin. Could it be possible that Tony's CS jacket measurements for Ford have become a little confused somewhere along the line? I'm a well-built 40R myself, but I honestly wouldn't compare my appearance to a T-shirted Ford as he appears now.

Holt, I checked the jacket I bought from you and it measures 21" across!
also a 44

Im so lost cuz, I spoke to other people with UK made 44's and they measure 24 to 25'' across.same as mine...

and I spoke to a few persons who have Uk made 42's and they measure 23'' across.....

something really weird is going on thats for sure.....
