As some of you may have noticed I've been looking through the extras DVD. We all know how hard it is to gauge the length of jackets at the best of times, a pose can make a vast difference. I grabbed these 2 images as they seem to be pretty neutral to me.

Discuss! :)

Oh, and Vic seems slightly taller than Harry here, Vic is quoted at 6 foot 1.

Indy is also slightly hunched over in both of these pics, not standing up straight. Isn't the standard answer basically 2" longer for a LC jacket than a Raiders?

Also, let's consider story continuity and timelines....Raiders happened in 1936, arguably in September, as the semester had just started....He left for Nepal and Cairo, second, possibly third week.... "Michaelson, chapters 4 & 5 for next time...." ;) Let's say that after the Raiders adventure, Indy arrived home, after being....here it is....'drug by a truck' and a bullet having grazed his arm, ie puncture wound and blood stains on the leather, so he goes out to buy a new jacket, as it is vertually shreaded. He gets to his favorite local retailer and they are out of his size, so he finds a 42 Long, off the rack? Now he is ready for the next big adventure, at a moment's notice. Possibly, he would have had this same 42 Long jacket at the time of his new adventure in 1938, otherwise known as...."the Last Crusade." The Last Crusade jacket would have been around 2 years old at this juncture.
