Baby wipes on a whip?

Hi All
I was out in the park pushing a stroller and in the basket underneath I had a whip, that fell out of its bag and it dragged on the sidewalk for a few feet, scuffing up the Turk´s head. I read on this forum that something similar happened to someone with the whip dragging off his bicycle and doing some serious damage. This was not as bad, but I was plenty miffed with the scuffs on my new Strain. Anyway I sat and wondered how I could go about minimizing/repairing some of the damage.
The scuff maks had dirt ingrained, so Pecard at that point would not have been a good idea. Then I remembered the wipes, and lo and behold they did the trick. They removed all of the dirt and the lotion on them really helped smooth out the abrasions. Now the damage on the Turks´s head is practically negligible, especially having been used quite a bit and exposed to the sun since then. Has anybody else tried this for minor whip scratches?

Hi IndianaBravo,

I never mind about something like scratch on the leather, specially on turk's head's strand ;).

But I think that if you want to repair that the best option is to replait the knot. I can replait it if you want, so I'm sending you PM :P. If you want to make it by your self take a brush, clean it, if it's dirty take soap or some cleaner and clean it ;). After that you can use Pecard or some other conditioner.

Regards,
Karol

Thanks for the offer Karol, but this happened last September and the whip looks fine now, the scratches are hardly noticeable. It seem the baby wipes worked quite well, although I don´t know about consistenly using something like this to remove dirt. I´ve done it a few times and the whips look fine.

I can't think of a reason it would be bad for the whip. The baby wipes probably contain lanolin which shouldn't hurt the whip since it's mostly waxes and fats and going on in a very thin layer. Hmmmmm, Wet Whip Wipes
