That's always been my impression.
This pic of the Hawaii hat also appears to have a thick brim, and very fuzzy felt, fuzz I never noticed on the main Raiders hat.

3M$ I think the Hawaii hat was thicker as well. The brim looks real thick when compared to the other hats. Perhaps that was the "test hat" created from the Aussie hat. I always thought it was possible. They ran out of hats and she pulled out the original. Fedora

Considering that was the last set of shots filmed for the movie, it's entirely possible.

could it be that the brim was trimmed with the slightest bit of bevel? it would make for more surface area on the brim edge and the brim would look thicker from certain angles because of it.

wouldn't there be a noticeable angle difference there?

if it was cut on a slight angle it would be difficult to see unless it was in your hands up close or a picture was taken in high def. you're talking about a difference of maybe a few degrees on something that is under an 1/8 of an inch to begin with. not to mention that the brim contorts with wear and flanging so you don't have a perfectly flat surface to gauge against and visual parallax/forced perspective makes everything even more difficult to accurately determine.
Do i personally think the brim was trimmed at an angle? i really have no idea, it probably wasn't. it's just fun to try to find more than one possible explanation for these things.
