Jacket lining material
What material does TN use? I have lining that's wearing out in my Wested and I want a local tailor to fix it. I want something really, really strong and am prepared to buy it separately and give it to my tailor. Any ideas?

Re: Jacket lining material
Not a jab at Nowak, but who's to say the material he uses will be any different than what Wested uses?
He's been making the Indy 4's for almost a year, and the indy one's for a couple of months. Nobody really can testify on its durabillity I think.
If I were you i'd check with what either G/B or USW uses?
just my 2 cts.

Re: Jacket lining material
Order some from Gibson and Barnes. Tough as nails, stronger than westeds silk lining. They'll sell you a couple of yards, enough for a jacket. I've ordered some from them a couple times,,,easy-peasy.

Re: Jacket lining material
If you're talking about lining - it really doesn't matter how long Tony's been making Indy jackets - he's been making actual jackets for a long time. It really doesn't matter about the style durability if you are talking lining. As for durability - my CS Indy from Nowak of 1 year has had no seam tears at all - whereas I cannot say the same for the Westeds I have owned - the seams on two of them had torn after a month.
I like the Westeds and Nowaks - I am not a member of either camp - I like what I like. Peronally I feel the Wested is a great dress jacket, and the Nowak is a great field jacket. At the moment I have a Wested that I love and a Nowak that I also love --both in a jacket/owner way.

Re: Jacket lining material
Tony uses two different materials for the Raiders and the CS jackets. The Raiders material is made out of "purse lining material" as I recall. It is very good stuff. I can't really comment on the stuff he uses for the CS jacket (I don't have one). However, the strongest lining that I've seen is the stuff that G&B currently uses. I know CM is familiar with it since he owns one of their jackets. Ironically, G&B use to use a material very similar to what Tony is currently using on the Raiders, on their early Expos.

TR says G+B will sell lining material, that may be a way to go since you are familiar with it.CM wrote:What material does TN use? You cold also ask your local tailor what they'd recommend.
TN's is strong stuff, but I have no idea exactly what it is or where you'd get it.
