christys adventurer wait times

Post by indyjonesstudent1 »

Does any one know the average wait time for a christys adventurer? I ordered one last wednesday the 29th. When should I expect it to arrive? :D

Depending on where you are, and their production runs, maybe a week. I live in the southwest, and recently received a sample of felt in about 4 days. My experience has been good customer service!

Technically, there is no wait time. The Christy's is a factory hat. That means these are pumped out by the dozens and are ready to ship as soon as you order. The "wait" is simply the time it takes for a package to get from London to you.

Is this an order through Hornets hats? If so they are usually quick shipping.

Yep, Hornets Hats. I wouldn't think it would take any longer than 7-10 days at the most, time alotted for shipping.

I'm in San Francisco. I ordered mine last Sunday, so we're 7 days out. I was being cautiously optimistic that it might arrive today, but figured it would more likely be the end of this week or the beginning of next....

here is an update from hornets.

Thank you for your email and apologies for the delay in replying to you. It has been a bank holiday weekend here in the UK and I have been away.

Your hat will be made this week at Christys and hopefully will be ready for dispatch on Friday. You should receive it Wed or Thurs 13th ior 14th depending on local USPS.

With kind regards,

Justin Davies

Sounds like they are out of stock in the size and color you requested. These things are made in an assembly line and are pumped out very quickly, so if they say the 13th or 14th, they are probably right.

I ordered mine on April 24th and I haven't received it yet. I did ask for mine to be customized, so I'm sure that's why it's taking a while.

the color I ordered was light sable and the size was 55. It seems unlikely that they would be coincedently out of the exact color and size. :( ](*,)

I wasn't replying to you, but a quoted shipping time of 6 working-days since you got that e-mail sounds about right to me. There were a lot of days off due to WWII memorial days all over Europe last week, so other than timing everything seems in order :)

Basically what you do is put the hat on your head, turn it so that the bow goes forward while looking in a miror untill you get the swoop you like, then put in a shallow center dent as the hat is on your head, take it off and use the front of that center dent as the new front of the hat while bashing it. This means you will end up bashing your hat off-center.

My hat is supposed to come wed or thurs but no email from usps with tracking # or confirmation that it has been shipped. Does this mean my hat is still waiting at the other side of the united states?

Probably not, no.

USPS "tracking" is useless anyways. It doesn't tell you anything until it's delivered, and even then since USPS updates their information in the evening, you'll get it in hand before the website tells you its delivered.

Somebody who's ordered before correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this sort of transaction creates a tracking number from USPS?

Well, I should've gotten my hat today, but everybody decided to abandon work, so nobody was here when the postman came.

Instead, I have a slip of paper telling me that I can pick it up, but not until tomorrow.

:x (except, without the hat)

I think it will happen naturally as the brim softens over time and with use. I turned mine partway down in back and left it that way for a few weeks. When I snapped it back up the brim had softened and lowered considerably. You could also try weighing the back brim down with some books.

It does take a little time. Try spraying the brim with a little distilled water (just enough to dampen it a little) and leave the books on it overnight. You could also try using a little steam, but be very careful not to steam the crown as it may shrink or taper.

But I didn't need to do any of that with mine. The brim just softened naturally, over time.

I can only agree with eazybox, just keep on working the brim, then it will soften up. You don´t really need steam or water to get it into shape.
For me it is part of the fun to play with the brim until it gets the shape I want.

For now, put a spacer ( paper towel, shave piece of sponge, whatever...) between the sweatband and the felt. Your hat is new, and will likely settle down to your size. I ended up ordering a second Christys' once upon a time and went a size larger than my usual. It now fits perfectly ( but then again, I'm kinda between sizes ). The hat makers and those "in the know" will tell you this is due to the inferior process in which these hats were made ( both construction and materials ). Sadly, this is true. I think it's hard to argue the asthetics of this hat, but the fact is, they're not "super hats", a la vintage and well made custom hats. That said, I still argue that these hats hold up under relatively adverse conditions and will take a reblock, if need be. However - keep wearing it and I assure you it will get to where you want it.

Take some paper towel and put it under the sweat: this will work just fine and is easily removable when your hair is grown back.
