I was digging through my archive hard drive last week, and came across a couple of videos I had taken of Ben Hughes, and it was right at the same time that Robby opened up a new section on the Whip Basics Forum for videos, so I uploaded one of the videos of Ben onto youtube, and Robby suggested that I post it over here too.

"In this video, World Champion Whipcracker Ben Hughes demonstrates a whipcracking routine he created called the Messerschmitt. He created it based off of the idea of the WWII fighter planes where the bullets pass in between the propeller blades. This video was taken outside of our hotel in Claremore Oklahoma while Chris Camp "The Whip Guy" (http://www.thewhipguy.com) and I waited with Ben Hughes (http://www.bullwhipben.com) and his father Charlie for their ride to the airport, at the end of the 2006 Wild West Arts Club World Convention. This was right after Ben won 1st place in both the single and double handed whipcracking competition. He is an amazing whipcracker!

At the end of the video I put the routine in slow motion to hopefully better show the amazing complexity of this routine.

My favorite part, besides the whipcracking, is Charlie at the end! They were both an absolute blast to hang out with, and Charlie especially cracked me up that entire week. Great people!"

PS - I'll try to upload another video of Ben as soon as I have the chance.

That's amazing! I think it's almost more amazing when it's slowed down and you can really see what's going on.

Ben acctually only took up whipcracking when he was 16 and with in 18months he was AWPA Australian Men's Champion, which he has won 5 times. He came 3rd after he had been cracking for 6 months and I'm fairly sure everytime he has competed since he has won the event.
If you have a look around on you tube there is a couple other video's of Ben. His Ben's Helicopter routine is also a very good one.

Thanks for posting it Paul.
Regards

Simon

That’s a great video Paul; Ben’s ability with whips never ceases to amaze me. It’s pretty clear why he won as many championships as he did and why he’s deservingly considered one of the best of the best. Thanks very much for posting this.

While we are one the topic, here are two videos that Simon mentioned, one of Ben doing the Launcestion Special from Simon's Dual handed whip-cracking video

And another of him doing his helicopter
