So I own a Wested custom made LC Novapelle Leather Jacket. On the inside of the jacket above my name it says (Custom Made No 7710). What does this mean? I am guessing that I have ordered the 7,710 jacket Wested has made, is this true? I would think that if that is true the number would be higher.

You'd be guessing right.

That's printed inside the jacket? I didn't know Wested's were numbered.

Maybe you have #7,710 of 10,000

Sounds like the old order number, my first one was 4544.

How old is it? it should be older than mine: #7979 (which I thought was funny because I was born in '79).

My custom jacket (ordered at the end of December 2008, arrived in February 2009) have the number 4006...

Random numbers?

Maybe PETA has made them include number of endangered, brave little Novapelles that had to die to make that jacket........

I ordered mine back in November '08 and it's order #8144.

So it could be random numbering or numbered seperately per type

I ordered mine on 5/29/08 which is #7710. Indy89 if you ordered yours in November '08 and it's order #8144 maybe they do go in order?

I got mine last year about then and it was 7600.

I got mine in October of last year and it is #8115.

Yes I sure did here is a picture. If you order an off the rack jacket I don't think you can have your name in the jacket. So I am guessing you need to buy a custom order jacket. Just call or email gemma or peter.

Something else, authentic brown ROLA.

So the numbers could very well be specific to the type of jacket ordered That makes more sence to me than random numbers would.

3709 is on my jacket. I ordered a horsehide ROLA custom on Nov. 28th of 2008. I wonder what the 85 is for as seen on the order form... 3709/281108/85

I'm glad somebody started this thread as I kept forgetting to do so. I'd love to know if it's specific to the entire year? As long as Wested as been around? This specific model or leather? That would be worth asking Wested themselves on.

To further muddy things up, two years ago, jackets were being recieved with numbers from 6000-7000. You guys might want to check this out as 'further reading':

But basically, I remember we were all pretty confused at the time as Wested seem to jump 914 orders in the span of seven days...

It's late here and i am too tired and too lazy to look it up. But, a similar story exists with numbered brass serialized plates for the dash of a certain limited edition automobile. Owners many years after the cars were produced tried to figure out how the number corresponded to production dates when in reality the guy at the car factory was just rooting around in a box of plates and pulling out whatever he grabbed without regard to numerical order.
Possibly the case here?

Could be, but I think it's more likely that the number sequences are type or even leather specific (but probably just type specific). And I think it is very likely that they start at 1 again when they reach 10,000.

Could it be it's not just the custom Indys that get numbered but ALL custom jackets.........lot of those Gold Elvis jackets may be going out as well........
