My newly acquired Del Carpio 9ft 12 plait Roo ROTLA Bullwhip

I just got this whip in from Indiana Williams and I must say, after looking at it carefully, it has one of the SA natural tan patina I have ever seen.
9ft, 12 plait by Bernardo Del Carpio. This is my first whip (I do have a 10ft, 12 plait Kip Hide whip coming from classicbullwhips) and I love it. The weight seems just right and like I said, the patina is dead on. Here are some pics
Shown with my Wested HorseHide Raiders, Wade Egan's LC belt, whip holder, todds LC holster
Note: first pic is taken with flash, the rest without...
Shown with Wade Egan's LC "Saddle Tan" gunbelt, bison brown whip holder and Todds LC webley holster.
Here it is, the
DEFINITIVE Raiders gunbelt rig and whip. Wade Egan Raiders gunbelt (in my opinion, the most SA on the open market today) with Jake Johnson's Raider holster (which, also, i believe is the best avalible not only in terms of construction but appearence)

$400 for a $600 handmade whip was a steal and I am glad I acted on it! What do you guys think?

Fantastic Find RS (and yes $400 is a complete steal

)!
I always love to see Bernardo's work, so smooth and so SA. I do hate to see people having to sell stuff nowadays, but atleast it went to someone here who can appreciate it.
Again Congrats!
Crack On!

Better remove that lens hood before shooting more pics with flash.

Great looking whip there.

Might get a Del Carpio 10 footer myself some day, whip prices have gone through the roof though. A 31% increase since the time I ordered my 8ft Strain in 07.

yeah, but I still think the prices (at least Del Carpio's) are reasonable. I was gonna order a david morgan but I figured I could get a nice 9 footer made using the same techniques for less than half of what Morgan charges. I still wouldn't mind meeting Morgan at one point, that would be fun!

Glad you like the whip, ReturningSon

I know you will enjoy it. Even though I hated having to part with it Id rather it get sold to someone on here, as oppose to the Bay.
Best Regards,
Joe

So you like my whip-aging techniques, eh? Yep, that was my whip, before Indy Williams bought it from me. I put quite a bit of time trying to get the exact Raiders coloring without overshooting it & going too dark. By your comments, it sounds like I got it right...

Thanks so much everyone for the kind words about my work!
If memory serves me, this whip was shown here some time ago when I made for my friend Jace. He performed his aging techniques right away, and his new whip was looking "used" in no time. That brown patina looks nice indeed.
I am glad to see that it has found a loving home. ReturningSon, those are great pics, thanks for sharing. Your new whip joins and complements a very nice and SA collection.
For me it is always extremely fulfilling to see Indy fans happy with my whips
Happy cracking!
Bernardo

If Jace doesnt mind sharing, what aging techniques were used on the whip?

Aging Technique: Whip dressing + sun + brown tinted whip dressing = new whip with 10 year old patina. The trick isn't really what you use on it, but applying them in the correct doses & monitoring it very closely so that you don't overdo it -- especially the sunlight. I still want to experiment with attempting to age a natural tan whip all the way to the dark brown/black coloring of the ToD & LC whips. One of these days...
