I know its not exactly Indy, but I know how most of us like A2 jackets. I bought this A2-esque bomber on ebay a couple weeks back for $10. I thought some of you might want to check it out.

I think its cowhide. There were two small rips in the jacket which I had repaired at a local shoe repair store. That cost me $45 bucks. So, you can say I got the jacket for $55. I asked the repairman and he said it was cowhide. Two votes for cowhide, so I would assume it is. The tag just reads "Geniune Leather."

Actually, that looks strikingly similar. Would this be a good hide?

Oh, and Dave, it would be 'Indy related', as the original conceptual artwork of Indy first showed him wearing an A-2, so you're right in the zone.

Doesn't look like an A2 to me. Funky collar tho.

Marc was playing around with this idea some time ago. Not sure what his final results were 'though.

The artist said he based his design on an A2. Good enough for me.

This is one of the original "concept" sketches done around 1980.
Deffinate A-2 influence there with the elasticated cuffs and bottom.
Back on topic, Thats one crazy looking hide.

Rover, I've had a casual sport coat in this look.....supposed to give a predistressed look in a smooth cow hide.....always felt a little too fake looking ,non natural for me ...JMO

Uhh ... not sure, if I'm ready for another jacket now ... there I just fell in love with the "Aviator" jacket. Hmmm.

This style of distressed hide was pretty popular in the UK a few years back, I always thought it was a fake pleather type material. I was never keen on it.

Oh yeah that one, those were done after the production had started. More like wardrobe sketches really. The Steranko pics were used to illustrate the idea Lucas had in mind.

According to the big making of book this was done bofre they had even cast anyone as Indy, but yeah, after Sterankos paintings.
Anyways. Back to the mottled bomber

I know its not a mil-spec A2, but it definately fits the bill of "bomber." I figured that for $10, I couldn't go wrong. Personally, I really like the jacket and the fit is dead on. Best $10 I ever spent.

Hey, for $10, you got a great looking jacket. Even figuring in the repair costs, it's still a good deal.

Great find DR Ulloa. Congratulations, that’s a steal at $10.
I had one very much like it in the 80’s. It saw me through many adventures. I wish I had it now, though I’ve since developed an aversion to pre-distressed leathers.
Wear it well, my friend.
Bear in mind that jacket has influences other than Indy though; behold the perfect pocket companion:

Kind of an 1980's look to me. Think Michael Landon in "Highway to Heaven"... The kids over here are all over that look in retro bars. I find that funny becasue I was older than them when the look came in. I enjoy getting old.

CM:
I hear ya. I never change my look. I just wait for my clothes to come back into style. This means I fluctuate from outdated, to cool and stylish, to retro, depending on current trends.

Should you be required to have a 'Mullet" to wear this ??
