WESTED pattern question

Post by PLATON »

Anybody knows if the ROLA pattern of Wested is the same as the 80s fit pattern?
Or is it something between the standard and the 80s fit? Is it longer than the 80s fit?
(Looks long in some pics). I am talking regarding fit now and not pocket size etc.

Anybody has both ROLA and 80s fit?
KT you know the answer?

Lots of differences. Completely different styles. 80's fit only apples to Raiders. O:)

Ok, the ROLA 80's fit is more tight cut. But in the other thing, are there great differences? :?

as I allways say on this board. if you want to know something just read a little thru the posts about this topic. there is TONS of info on this subject.

the 80's cut is a tighter wasit cut.while reg is a full cut. the details like pockets.straps, collar should be the same between reg and 80's cut.

yes. its recommended if you like the raiders jacket. also the ROLA has higher armholes then the LC so you wont feel restricted when moving.

That's just a rumour! I just have an unshakeable ability to misspell. It's a bit of a speciality.

The ROLA gives a lot of freedom of movement.

It's a great jacket to ROLAround in. :[

Phew - when I read apples earlier I started to think of the Marcus/Indy scene and was wondering what I may have missed in relation to the jacket and the apple on the desk.... :P

My opinion, and only my opinion, is that if I was more slender the ROLA is a great look. If you're a bit chunkier (like me) then the standard cut is a bit more flattering.

Why would those details be different? Isn't it supposed to be the same jacket being represented in each of these offering/price point variants?

In another thread it was said that the " '80s cut " only differs in that it tapers/is slimmer in the waist area.

This is on the Wested site. There are structural differences between the 2 offerings. Facings on the zipper being the main one, Silver zipper or brass...etc, etc...

The Raiders has a regular cut, brass zipper and facings etc. The ROLA has 80s cut, silver zipper, no facings etc.

The cut doesn't affect the details like zipper and facings, it's the name of the jacket.

Quotes from the Wested web site.

'Raiders' of the Lost Ark (Apologies to Hankey... they used to call this just Raiders cut):
Standard specifications include two-way pockets, action pleats for arm movement, side vents, and a the leather bound inside pocket. Leather inside facings and heavy duty brass zip make this a very durable and 'Streetwise' jacket.
'ROLA'
Unlike the Standard raiders which has slight modification to make it durable and street wearable this 'film jacket' although equally wearable is more lightweight.

There are no inside leather facings, the body is slimmer and the sleeves more tapered. The zip is a smaller 5 gauge nickel and the action pleat depth is narrower with two piped inside pockets.
The pockets on the ROLA's are smaller too.

I thought there was a difference between getting a "streetwise" jacket with 80s cut instead of getting a "film jacket" with most SA specs?

That's what Peter told me. I believe Holt said (and someone else I forget) that the 80s cut is tight in the arms/shoulders but when I asked Peter that, he said no.

Then exactly what IS an 80's cut? I've always thought it meant a slimmer fit too, so I'd really like to know the answer.

the differ between an 80's and a reg is the tapered stomach/waist.

the chest, shoulder, armhole, neck is the same between the 2 patterns.

its only the waist that is different.

at least those are peters words when I had him on the phone a couple weeks back.

But didn't you say in another thread that the arms are tight for the 80s cut? Peter told me the same as aforementioned above.
