The cheapest one I know of is Todd's Standard ($150). It's extremely authentic and quite wearable (but it's a thin jacket and durability is a question mark.....but it's cheap so what more can you ask?). For under $100, you could try looking for a used one in Cairo Bazaar.

How about a thrift store then? I doubt that if you got something, people would point out that it wasn't SA.

'bomb is good to bring that up, which inspires another thought; You might also consider posting in the "Marrakesh Supply" section. That's the "wanted to buy" section, in case you are unaware. Explain what your after and the price range your dealing with. Who knows. Somebody may have exactly what you want lurking in the back of a closet.

may i ask how you are planning on doing a remake if you don't have a lot of money? CGI programs and software get pretty expensive, not to mention equipment, wardrobe, set design blah blah blah

Check out 'Be Kind, Rewind', Knibs; a movie from last 2008 starring Jack Black. It demonstrates how you can do a remake of a film on
a really tight budget! :) Maybe that's the sort of thing the OP is hoping to recreate?
Couldn't be any worse than the original film, at any rate...

I'm sure it can be done, I'm just not sure about the QUALITY that will be seen in the end

I see that Mutt is in the UK. I think they have a contest over there for remaking a film from the past year with like a 10 minute time limit. Something like that. Perhaps that's what he means, because that sounds like fun!

Are you talking about 1 or 2? 2 I could understand but 1 I thought was good. Also I haven't seen it in about 15 years. :-k

It was 1, I don't like starting in the middle of a franchise.

Keep your eyes peeled in the classified section.

I've seen a LOT of nice brand new jackets go for peanuts, so you don't have to just substitute with the 'cheapest'... you could get hold of a top drawer jacket for the same price, or even less. They're out there, and I see them rattle through the section every week.

Good luck on your search, but don't sell yourself short, Mutt. Shop smart.
