TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
Hi everyone,
Although I am really fond of this place, I never post in forums. Let’s say that I am shy. But this time I am going to break my rules, because Tony deserves it.
I liked TN Raiders since the first time I saw the pictures that many of you have posted here. Two months ago, I read Han Jones thread showing his new TN Raiders in Goat. I thought that it was a great thing to know that the jacket was also available in that skin. Yet, and even though I liked it so much, I still was doubting about choosing goatskin or shrunken lamb. I truly loved the texture and draping of the shrunken lamb but, on the other hand, I wanted an extremely tough jacket. Tony told me what he thought, but he also recommended me to ask other owners for advise. He put me in contact with Han Jones and Indiana G, and both were of great help (by the way, once more thanks a lot, guys). I finally decided to go for the goat but with one condition: I wanted a much darker brown colour. ‘Sure, no problem’, Tony told me, and my order was placed.
Last Wednesday the jacket arrived and, what can I say? I am amazed by its quality. Let me tell you that this is truly a tough jacket, very strong and thick, and the surface is grainy and has lots of character. When I touch it is stiff and you could tell that there is nothing that could damage it. But, on the other hand, when I wear it, it drapes wonderfully. OK, I am not going to fool anyone: it is not lambskin, of course. But I can assure you that it has almost the same draping... And that's what amazes me most.
Tony has made it again: this is top quality.
Here are some pictures. I hope that you like them:

Thanks a lot guys!
Size 38 (I am not a tall guy: 5,8)
No special requests apart from the colour and the pocket snaps: I wanted them just a little bit higher.

Re: TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
This is the greatest TN I have seen.
The color is great, it seems a little too thick but it's fine.
It's long too, how did you do it?

That's the one! Did you steal that from the Lucas Ranch? That looks just perfect. To me it looks like Raven Bar/South American Temple opening scenes.

Thank you so much holt. Coming from you that's something that has to be taken seriously!perfect my friend.just perfect!
Well, to tell you the truth I was having lunch the other day in the Lucas Ranch and I told the guy:That's the one! Did you steal that from the Lucas Ranch?
‘Hey George, where is the bathroom?’ And he gave me a lot of indications and draw me a map because, you know, that house is quite a big place. Then I went and I… well, ejem, I got lost for a while (he,he)
Back height: 23.5"What does it measure in the front and back? Is it longer than the standard 23"?

Yes, I wanted the snaps just a little bit higher from what I saw in other TN Raiders. In any case, it is almost unnoticeable.
Wested, Nowak... and meAll the photos showing you wearing it are amazing.

Platon, thanks a lot. As I told Holt, coming from you that's something that has to be taken seriously. Apart from that I honestly think that it is all thanks to Tony's craftmanship!
I'm really happy to see you all liking so much this jacket. Thank you so much, guys.

Hey Neutronbomb. Yes, it does fall of the shoulders. In fact, everything that I had read about the 'strange' fit of the Raiders jacket does happen in this one too, and it makes it even cooler. But, seriously, this hide is superb. Shrunken lamb is the real deal (that's for sure), but, man, this goat is such a great alternative...

Re: TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
Absolutely... And in fact it would have been great to meet the man and talk with him. But I live in Spain, so...It would be interesting to know what the back and front length would have been had Tony just sized the pattern he had to your body, height etc.
Re: TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
First thing I noticed in your pics was the length of the collar, like Holt's. Looks and fits perfect in my eyes and durable to boot.

Nope. It is the standard collar Tony offers (as far as I know).
By the way. I am answering those who have anything in particular to ask about the jacket, but SpeedRcrX, Rundquist and Bullitt, thanks a lot for your comments too!

Re: TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
Jacket size is 38 (or is it the collar size you are asking for? I am not sure how to measure it)
Chest measurement: 19.7" pit to pit.
Tony decided to make the jacket a little bit snugger than my Riders Wested (an standard 38 that is 20.5" pit to pit)

Re: TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
That is just beautiful. I love the color. The last pic of you wearing it is so Raven Bar to me. In fact there's a lot of Harrison Ford in you - if you were in full gear, it would be like a time warp back to the 80's in that jacket. You may have captured Raider's Indy (both you and the jacket) more than anyone else I've seen on the forum.
Exceptional jacket and you wear it well!

Re: TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
thanx, could you please faltten those cuffs out and measure them carefully, no stretching..
I seem to get different cuff widths from people who has the TN raiders when they pm me the cuff size.
it should be 5.5''
please confirm.

The snaps in the photos don't really appear higher. You probably don't want them too high anyway or you might get curling of the tip of the flap
Now wear it in. Keep that 'wrinkle' effect going

since it's to the TN Raiders jacket specs that order would get you a jacket in goat in Raskolnikov's size. If you are the same size it might work for you
Re: TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
yeah, that makes me wonder too.....
cuz I havent seen any other Nowaks looking like that....

Re: TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
The collar looks right to me for a TN.
In this side photo, http://s584.photobucket.com/albums/ss28 ... nt=Me2.jpg he seems to be leaning forward and has the jacket pulled forward more onto his shoulders. This seems to make the collar protrude more to the front.
Remember Mr Holt I gave you the measurement of my collar, and you indicated it was actually slightly larger than your collar. My collar is standard TN size.

Re: TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
I wear a 44" Wested and when I was discussing my specs with Tony, I believe he mentioned his Indy1 standard collar base to be 19 inches, which is longer than the already relatively long 18" on my existing jacket. Seems a long collar...

This is no doubt why you see a big collar in the movie
I think where my collar was larger than yours was in width, I can't remember how long your collar is.

In fact the snaps of the Hawaii jacket are even higher, but as RCSignals has pointed out, maybe that would make curl the tip of the flap. For stetic reasons I like it better the way it is in my jacket, a little bit higher but not too much.
I appreciate that you think is a 'Hawaii jacket', because IMHO that's one of the coolest moments in the film. Thanks a lot again.

Raskolnikov,
Congrats! Now THAT is one pretty jacket!! This is the first example of a TN that makes me want to get one, especially considering it's the lesser of the two pricetags. You've definitely got yourself a keeper! Wear that beauty with pride.
Kind regards,
Craig

Does the collar on the TN jackets go to the midway point on the stormflap? I thought that it did, but in this last batch of pics it looks as if it does not...still a terrific looking jacket, though. IT makes me want to order one right away, even if I don't have enough cash yet!!

Re: TN Raiders in dark goat. Unbeatable.
I actually took a second look before I posted, and then again now after you told me to. It still looks as if the collar hits the stormflap right at the zipper, but if you say it does, then I believe you -- I thought that it had on all the TN's until it looked as if it didn't to me in that pic. Not a big deal anyway, as I could always specify that in my (potential) order.
