Which is the best DVD to learn from

I'm only really interested in the techniques Indy uses in the films. In the UK whip cracking is not as 'big' as it is elsewhere. Which would be the best DVD / book to learn these techniques?

Covers all the cracks in the film in great detail.

Yes, I agree - Whip Basics Vol. 1. Robby will walk you through a basic four-crack routine that is quite Indyesque. It's pretty short but will get the job done.

Except for the Cairo scene in Raiders, Indy doesn't really crack his whip, and the cracks he performed there are pretty simple and easy to learn. Indy mostly uses his Morgan bullwhip for wraps. You definitely want to get The Art of the Bullwhip, a classic video that features many performers, showing lots of tricks that can inspire you. They also teach you the 4 basic ways to crack a whip. I would also suggest getting Whip Cracking Made Easy part II where Mark Allen and Alex Green discuss the basic cracks, plus some grabs and target work. I think these two videos are the best for what you are interested in.

Whip Basics Vol. I for starting out is the best one I have seen. I have bought several and this out shines all the rest. Robby has a very natural and engaging style of teaching. He breaks down each crack and gives you mental visuals of things your familar with so you can relate it to the way the whip responds to your moves.

I got Whip basics couple months ago and it has been the greatest. I have not seen many others so hard to say who's the best. But they made a noticeble difference to me.

Every whip cracking training DVD has strengths and limitations so I dont think that there is a best one. Some are better then others though and All the ones mentioned so far would be just fine to help you with what your interested in learning. I'd like to poke my head in and suggest "Whip Cracking with the Masters" or "Mastering the Bullwhip" with Anthony D. The videos may be a little more expensive, but Anthony's style is a very minimalist looking one, which I think is greatly efficient. He stresses not muscling the whip, or powering into throws, but letting the whip do the work for you.

Thanks to all of you for posting. The convention will not be held this year and the Midlands is a fair treck for me. What I suppose I ment was to see people out cracking in other countries is 'normal' to a certain degree

In the UK you would be more likely to be seen in a stranger light and possibly be arrested As I will have to practice in public places I will not be doing so for longer than is necessary to gain the 'Indy' actions. I am thinking of waiting for the third installment of Whip Basics as I understand that is where I will find the wraps and flicking the gun / poker out of peoples hands. It might be cheaper to buy them together than separately........
