strange question

Hey guys
got the flu and been wearing my hat, do I have to worry that with sweating that the flu virus will be stuck in the sweat band or can I wipe it down with something? I've seen commercials that the virus lives on stuff for awhile, am I over reacting or is this vaild and if so what to do?
by the way feeling better but could have done without this hate being sick. thanks all

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just wipe the sweat down and you'll be safe, as long as you don't cough into the hat.

You'd better bleach the hat then burn it.
If I HAD to do something, I'd use a rag that had a little anti-bacterial soap on it and wring it out really well so it was damp and lightly and quickly wipe.

It'll be fine - I wouldn't put any kind of chemical on it. Just let it dry out naturally, the virus will die on its own. Even if you did cough in it, don't stress over it.

If it's a size 7 3/4 it should be sent immediately to me for ... Um..... Disposal.I'll be sure to take care of it.

If your really concerned, I offer two choices (because "don't worry about it" doesn't work for everyone when it comes to germs);
1. Lightly wipe the sweatband with an antibacterial wipe. If the wipe you pick is very wet, let it sit in the open for about 15 minutes first.
2. Wear a different hat for a week or two, giving any flu germs time to die. Don't keep the hat in a box. Open air.
Are my methods scientific? No. But they sure put the mind at ease, and I've never gotten a relapse from a hat.

I shouldn't worry about that virus: once you had a particular strain of virus, and got well, you'll be imune to that strain for the rest of your life. So you can't get sick of a virus you yourself put into your hat.
