AB The Henry or Penman Beaver/Rabbit
Inquiring minds want to know. Which one would you get? It would not be worn a lot and style would be Skull or Raiders.

Re: AB The Henry or Penman Beaver/Rabbit
I wanted to vote "All of the above," but chose the Penman rabbit as that is what I would like to get next for the warmer time of year possibly in a dark gray. A Penman beaver is still on the list for next winter though, and I would like a Henry too.
Aw, heck, just get them all and wear them all the time.
thanks,
Frank

Can I also vote for you wearing it more than you plan to? Because, between the price and quality, those three hats are wasted on just costume wear.

Whenever you put rabbit or blend up against beaver the beaver will always win. Its just a better felt. Also, you cannot compare a factory hat to handmade hat. John's work is top notch and his customer service is unrivaled. My vote goes for the beaver Penman.

I voted Penman Beaver as I had this exact choice to make a month and a half ago, and ended up ordering a Penman Beaver...just heard that he's working on mine now!!!!

The Penman beaver recieved my vote as well. I am wanting a hat that can be worn in the elements without the fear of taper. I believe John's beaver felt hat will provide me with that for an outstanding price.

Re: AB The Henry or Penman Beaver/Rabbit
I choose the Penman Beaver. I have a Fed Delux 3 rabbit and the difference in the feel of the felt is noticable. The beaver is much smoother and feels more durable. The Penman rabbit would be my second choice due to experiencing John's excellent customer service and craftmanship. The Henry is my last pick only because it's the only one left. As much as I'm sure the Henry is the best a factory hat could be and appreciating it's pedigree, it's last on my list due to the de-valued U.S. dollar making it cost as much as a Penman beaver to a poor American down on his luck. Why pay for a blend when a pure-bred is available at the same price? If all were made in America then the Henry would move up to 2nd place due to Marc and Steve's dedication to making the best Indy hat they can and making it well. And a beaver/rabbit blend trumps a rabbit.

Re: AB The Henry or Penman Beaver/Rabbit
While I have no doubt the Henry is the best factory hat you can get, a factory hat cannot stand up to a hat made by a quality hatter. And rabbit/beaver blend cannot stand up to pure beaver as far as quality of felt. So weighing these factors in mind, a Penman beaver is the best choice. I have a Penman ToD style and it is absolutely top notch. And the knock against beaver being too stiff doesn't apply to this hat. It's developing a nice floppiness to it.

Re: AB The Henry or Penman Beaver/Rabbit
Since he states he won't wear it much and the rabbit is floppier, I voted penman rabbit. Maybe it won't shrink up as fast if it is worn little and kept from water in the form of rain, steam, etc.

Actually, it's almost been two months, and I went with the Last Crusade dimensions, but I'm not sure exactly which bash just yet...I'll have to play around with it.JC1972 wrote:

That's what I voted for.
Randy, I know you WON'T regret it!
You're ordering from a guy who won't let the hat go out the door unless it's ALL quality craftsmanship from top to bottom!
