Pecard's on US Wings CE Vintage Cowhide

Has anyone applied Pecard's to one of the US Wings Collectors Edition Vintage Cowhides. I have had mine for about 7 months and wear it regularly. I want to do whatever I can to ensure I can enjoy it for years to come but would like to see what the colour looks like afterwards. If someone has some before after pic's or could offer advice it would be greatly appreciated. :notworthy:

Check other threads regarding application on TN jackets as well. They're the same leather.

I put Pecards, first the creme/lotion then after a while the regular leather dressing, on my USW vintage cowhide and it made the jacket 110% better. When I first got it the leather was rather dry with a matt finish and I really didn't like the way it felt. The lotion helped but it still seemed a bit dry for my tastes. After a liberal applicationof the dressing it really started to get nice; the dryness vanished, the color intensified, and overall it looked much richer. And the effect has been long-lasting.

So I'd go for it, but it will certainly change the character a bit. My opinion is for the better. Not a huge change in color, but certainly richer.

I did exactly the same. I used lotion at first and then went for the regular Pecard's. Really helped the leather to be more supple and take off the matte feel to it.

I will probably go for it then. Is there any advantage to using the cream first or should I go straight for the dressing?

I only used the cream first because I was worried about the dressing changing the look too much. So no, you only need the dressing. Really slather it on, hang the jacket on your shower curtain overnight and it will be ready to go the next day.

I am going to go for it. Does anyone no if Pecard's can be purchased in Canada. I will order it if I have to but shipping from their site is $20 to Canada. I could by a lifetime supply for my jacket if I could get some closer to home.

If you know of any leather product vendors based in canada, you could see if they carry it. Stores or websites that sell whips, saddles, that kind of thing, usually sell some sort of leather treatment. One of them is bound to sell pecards.

I searched the net for sometime, and couldn't find a Pecard vendor here in Canada. No one in Niagara or the Toronto region (that I could locate/contact) carries it. I had to bite the bullet and order it from the site. Came to like $30-$35 with shipping and exchange for the 6 oz. container of leather dressing.

I have had no luck in finding a local vendor here in Western Canada either. I tried some local saddlery shops and whatnot, but to no avail. Looks like I am going to be getting a $35 tub of Pecards also. ](*,)

Just curious, but did you try contacting Pecards directly to ask if they have any vendors selling their product in Canada?

I called them up - no vendors in Canada. Also had to go the high postage route.

The stuff looks great on my washed goat, though.

Gooch.

What a procrastinator I am! I still have not treated my Jacket. ](*,)

Does anyone have picks of this jacket after being treated with Pecard's?

Do a search on Tennessee Smith posts about this. He did it to his jacket, and posted photos of the results.

I've been thinking about "Pecarding" my CE for a while and finally did it yesterday - I think this thread was the motivation I needed. Simply put, I couldn't be happier with the results. I liked the jacket before, now I love it!

I did the same shortly after getting my wings ce. I really wasn't happy with the matt finish of the leather. The pecards darkened the leather very slightly and gave it a better feel. I did use a very light coating.

Alright, so I "Pecarded" it again...and this time I really slathered it on. It absorbed ALL of it. Now don't get me wrong, it looks great, but it absorbed ALL of it. What does that mean?

It means your leather was dry and could absorb all the product. Nothing else.

I just went to the Pecards site. Theres a lot of choices there. How much diference ca there be between classic/motorcycle/equestrian et al leathers? Regardless, which one(s) do you guys use? I think I'd prefer a lotion, although the site says, 'Sometimes you need faster absorption than a dressing paste offers, but don't want to run the risk of over applying with a liquid dressing. Pecard has placed it's Cream Dressings squarely on this target area. By offering a product that will absorb into leather quickly but gives the consumer the ability of being able to control the spread we have effectively bridged the gap between the Oils and the Paste dressings.'

Is this the right stuff?

The 'creame' is what I use on a regular basis. It's actually a jell, but they already had the labels printed for the jars when the product came out and never bothered to change it.

It has less beeswax in it than standard Pecards, and due to that does absorb faster and helps loosen up stiff leathers.

That's what I figured. It's a new jacket though; I was hoping something sinister was afoot... :-s

Okay, I just placed an online order with Pecards. There was only space for Master Card, but my card is a Visa, so I put in the info. I placed the order and got a screen that says my cart is empty. Thats nice, but did my order go through? There was no confirmation or denial screen. Is that normal for this company when an order goes through, to get a screen that says my cart is empty??

That's a question to ask the company. I have no idea.
