I was wondering if anyone could direct me on where to buy a decent leather(no nessacerily 'roo hide) whip that is indy style. the budget i'm looking at is $200 or in the neighorhood. it's gonna be tough to scrunge up the money, but i want one(i want to learn how to crack it good). i've considered getting a swivel handled, but dislike the looks somewhat. i used to have a swivel handle whip, when i was about 12, but decided to swing on it(hehe
)and it broke(lasted surprisingly long though). i guess i'd really like something more indy-ish. any help?

I would check out Lee Keppler's site,
http://www.adventure-supply.com. He has a nice looking whip, although darker in color, from $90-110. He has recently added a wrist loop to make it more Indy-ish. Just my two cents.
Peace,

I'd recommend East Coast Whips. On his site, he has a 7 ft. listed as $185 and an 8 ft. as $215. These are his 12 plait whips. Three of my roo whips were made by him and I'm quite happy. His customer service is excellent as well.
He also has a Budget Indy 8 footer for $140. This is an 8 plait whip.

Yes, Lee sells whips too. I think his are cowhide. I've cracked one his before. They are dark brown but look almost black in my opinion. Very economical whip.

I think I've got one that may work for you. I've been making whips for about 18 months and have a few that you may like. They are roo hide, 12 plait, Indy style, with two braided roohide bellies. They have seen a little use, but are still mainly new and in good condition. I just recently met with Paul Stenhouse, so he's seen them and cracked them, if you want a reference. Unfortuneately, I'm still trying to find a camera so I don't have pictures yet. If you are interested, PM me and we can work out the details. Did you have a preference on size?

Major Mike,
that sounds cool, but I'm not in the market to buy one right now(at the moment). But I'll remember you when buying time comes around(hopefully soon!). Thanks.
