Bag strap bleed through!

So I went on a walk with my best friend and let him wear my adventure shirt and Wested( his costume  )
It's raining out I don't care if my Wested gets wet I know Indy wouldn't. So when we arrive home he takes of the jacket and I notices these brown streaks on my shirt and then I noticed the silk on the inside matches the colored streaks on the shirt! :x

What do I do? :-k

What kind of lining do you have? I think that it's not the leather that runs but the lining, but in the end it doesn't really matter. I haven't had a problem yet, but did experience this when I soaked a couple of Westeds to break them in. Maybe rinsing off the dye if you don't mind soaking it? or water repellent?

Good question.

I did see that. I didn't know they offered silk, so I had to double check.

Seeing as how Wested only supplies satin, cotton, and occasionally nylon linings on their Indy jackets, I would assume you supplied your own lining?

Here's one you can read through that may give you some insight. It also includes OLDER links regarding the same topic.

This can all be found using the search function. There's a LOT of good information in there.

Ah, good. Then you also read the suggestions and 'fixes' through out all those discussions too.

Seems it's pretty 'hit and miss' on jackets that do this, and those that have NEVER bled on their owners. Sorry to hear you got one of the bleeders. :(

I never had a bleed problem with my Todd's. And, I've been caught in a few downpours while wearing it. But then again, I dunked it in a tub of cold water a few days after I got it because I wanted that Raiders look. It might have preempt any bleeding.

Good to know about the Wested. I haven't worn my ToD in the rain but this info is good to keep in mind.

Just add, I, too, can honestly say in all the years and all the versions of Wested jackets I've owned, I have never experienced bleed through either, so that's why I really have no suggestion to offfer myself. I've never had to deal with it. :-k

Hopefully those links advice of those who have will help.

After getting some of my facts strait I think this case of Wested bleed thru isn't Wested's problem I got my bag wet the other day and got my bag strap also got wet then I noticed it was bleeding! #-o

Same color as before! ](*,)

So this may be a real problem to bag strap owners I think this is also a new threat beware! Not that bleed thru from a jacket isn't!

JUST BEWARE!

P.S. In a couple of washes and you can barley notice the brown stains.

Any vat dyed leather that is not properly sealed at the tannery will bleed if it experiences a through water soaking. It's the nature of the beast.

How about changing your thread title to something about your bag strap bleeding? O:)
