Any ROLA size 40 owners? Help, please.
If anyone here owns one of the recent ROLA jackets (preferably washed goat) size 40, can you please post the following measurements:
chest (armpit to armpit, measuring from the armpit seams)
back length (from base of collar to bottom of jacket)
shoulder (base of neck to shoulder seam)
sleeve (shoulder seam to cuff - on the outside, longer side of sleeve)
stormflap length
I believe I'm a 40 Long, but I heard that the ROLA's run a little longer than the standard cuts. Anyone know by how much? Should I take a chance on a 40 ROLA being the equivalent of a Standard 40 Long?
Before anyone says "ask Peter", I have tried emailing Wested (Peter, Gemma) several times with no response and I don't have access to international calling.
Thanks for the help.

You have to ask yourself, is it really worth this trouble?
Why not try a vendor that will respond to your emails?
That you should have to rely on previous customers for simple answers about a product should be a pretty
good indication that something is not right.

Or, if you are dead set on getting a Wested, you can always order the long and have the sleeves shortened if needed.

Kevin:
Is it worth it? We'll see. I did try a 40 wested from a member here and the fit was great except for the sleeves and body length. As for other vendors, their price is above what I'm able/willing to pay at the moment. So, if I can get some info and make an educated guess as to size and get a jacket that fits me well, I'd say it was worth it, despite the frustration in getting a simple answer from the vendor, as you said.
Bink, I'm not worried about the 40L being too long. But if the OTR ROLA is already a long, then I'd rather go that route and not have to wait/pay more for a custom.

Just about all the answers to your questions can be found on Wested's
own website.
They have a page that has measurements of each size jacket from 38
up to about 46 or 48.
And they state how much you can add to the length of the body and
the sleeves when you order a "Tall" size, which is the same as a "Long".
Go the website and check them out if you don't want to talk to Peter
directly, or can't get an answer fast enough.

i heard that wested's sizing chart is a little wonky when compared to your delivered product. i know holt could confirm for sure.Arca Perdida wrote:Kevin:

Re: Any ROLA size 40 owners? Help, please.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I do my homework before posting. I have seen the chart. It still doesn't tell me how different a ROLA jacket is from their listed sizes. And any OTR, for that matter. Just reading the posts around here, seems like the sizes vary depending on the offer or where/when it was made. They're not kidding when they mention that it's "just a sizing guide". Sometimes I laugh and think they mean that it's just a guide for their tailors when they make the jackets.FLATHEAD wrote:Just about all the answers to your questions can be found on Wested's

I am aware of the listed measurements for a standard 40 or a 40L. What I need to know is which of those match that of a ROLA 40?
Thanks.

I can attest to "a little wonky" at least in years past. I have measured an OTR Wested Raiders and compared those measurements to what the Wested web site showed the measurements would be and they were off by as much as 3/4". Given what it could have possibly cost me to get it resolved I just chalked it up to a very reasonable priced jacket but you get what you pay for in the end. Another jacket that I purchased second hand but was an OTR and I measured was very close to what the site showed the measurements should be so I guess you could use that as a guide for what it's worth?

The chart they show IS for the Raiders (ROLA) jacket. Its not for other jackets theyThanks for the suggestion, but I do my homework before posting. I have seen the chart. It still doesn't tell me how different a ROLA jacket is from their listed sizes.
sell, like the War of the Worlds jacket or any others they make.
They state that for the TOD jacket, they add 1 inch to the length of the body.
Since the measurements they give on the site ARE for the standard Raiders jacket,
you should use them as a guide when you want to purchase your jacket.
Since these jackets are custom made, then the actual jacket you receive may
differ slightly from what is posted, but that is too be expected with a custom
made, made by human hands jacket. Thats why no two jackets posted about
here, even though they may have been ordered in the same size, will come out
exactly the same, right down to a quarter inch.
These are not mass produced mall jackets, that are made from cookie cutter
machines, and sewn together by machines as well.
The leather is hand picked, hand cut, and the patterns are hand stitched
together, so some varying in the outcome will happen.

Flathead, you are misunderstanding the question, I think.FLATHEAD wrote:The chart they show IS for the Raiders (ROLA) jacket. Its not for other jackets they

ROLA does not equal Standard Raiders. Wested makes at least 3 kinds of Raiders jackets: The Special Offer Raiders Off the Rack, the Raiders custom and the ROLA Off the Rack Raiders, which is slightly modified from the standard Raiders. Several people here on the forum have mentioned that the ROLA Raiders tends to run a little longer that the standard Raiders. The sizing chart is a general chart for their standard patterns for their Indy jackets. The ROLA deviates a little from that. And that's what I'm trying to find out.

I guess I don't understand. Thats alot of different jacket styles to try toFlathead, you are misunderstanding the question, I think.
keep track of.
I feel for you trying to find your size then.
But if you want a Wested, then your only hope is to keep trying to get in touch
with them.
You can get a calling card for the international call if don't have access on your
regular phone. They are cheap, and available just about everywhere.
You will never get the answer to your questions here just piece meal from fans.
You need to talk to the guy who you want to make the jacket for you.
And, with all the custom features available, I still don't see the need for asking people here what
they have really, since it would just be a guide anyway.
Just order what YOU want. With all the custom sizing available, why screw around
with what others have. Get what will fit YOU, not what fits others.
If you want a long jacket. Order the length YOU want. If you want a certain sleeve
length, order what YOU want. If you want a certain amount of room in the chest for
moving around, order the chest measurement that YOU want.
Peter can custom tailor a jacket to exactly what YOU want. Why bother with trying
to see if someone elses jacket might fit you?
My Raiders jacket was tailored to MY requirements, even though I ordered a size 44
regular, and gave my custom measurements that I needed in order for the jacket
to fit me the way I wanted it to.
I got the back length I wanted, the sleeve length I wanted, the overall chest size
I wanted. I used the chart for its intended purpose. As a GUIDE to help me zero
in on what was the general sizing measurements for each size jacket available.
I don't care what others who wear a size 44 have/had, as not everyone is the
same height as me, the same weight as me, have the same bicep measurements as me,
have the same neck measurement as me, have the same waist measurement as me,
have the same arm length as me...ect. Even though we all might normally start out
wearing a size 44 jacket.
Just get what YOU want and be done with it.
Your right. With all the custom features Peter will do for basically NOTHING, I
don't understand the problem with getting a jacket that will fit YOU exactly the
way YOU want it to.
But good luck to you. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Thank you, KT.
I have not received anything from them and have tried from different accounts, checked spam folder, etc.
Thanks for the info and tell Gemma thanks.
Flathead, I agree that a custom would be nice. However, I'm interested in trying an off the rack if I know the measurements and they happen to mach what I need.
Thanks.
