They have lots of goodies, thanks for the link. I'm going to place an order tonight. If anyone wants to save on shipping, PM me! I'll just add your sliders to my order, and ship 'em to you for cost (probably like a buck or two, so you'll save a couple of bucks).

aWESOME! im glad this helped out.. i looked for hours and hours today looking for them. i just got a new Wested Goat raiders and i wanted to change out the sliders.. my Wested is almost identical to the Tony Nowak 000/888 the first pic on this thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=36638.. the pockets are the same also, the right one is scalloped to a small point and the left one is regular scalloped round... the leather is different but other then that they're super close ...i will post pics when i can..
i know that Nowak's and Wested's are two totally different jackets but my new one is not like any other wested i have had b4. the goat is super soft and light weight. i ordered a standard cuz i wanted the facings for durability and extra weight.

is there a trick to putting something like that on or do you have to take your jacket to a tailor? Are they better than the black rectangles that come with your wested?

I believe their more accurate than the rectangles. My Raiders still has D rings. I'm not particularly bothered by them, but the sliders look nice.

My plan was to dremel through the middle bar, and slip the leather through the gap.

That would probably work, but it does say they are zinc die cast so cutting through the bar may weaken it. Die cast zink especially with such a small unsupported area (after cutting a slot) is easily breakable.

The dremel through the middle bar sounds a reasonable route, then you could reinforce the middle with some wire and superglue etc.

I need to come around here more often, so the Raiders sliders are now one piece vs the two rectangles?

yes thats right. they replaced the Drings the jackets came with, with triglides casue the straps kept on sliping.

I cant find one scene that showes two piece rec sliders. only tri glides.

Wow who knew, we have been using the two rectangles for so long. When did this come about?

well ir i seen on screen and the Tony nowak jackets come with triglides.

also Todd from todd costumes is using tri glides.

when I think about it..I think I spoke to soon...I think the bantu wind jacket had 2piece rec sliders..allthough you cant see them on screen, I still think they are on the jacket.

the bantu wind jacket is the production jacket Ford is wearing in an black and white pic. that jacket I believe had the 2 piece sliders.

the stunt and other production jackets came with 2piece rec sliders or D rings.

you havent been around latley have you?

i didnt want to go the whole tailor route so i think im gonna dremel the middle bar and then use jb weld to hold it.. that will hold zinc and JB weld is strong as steel! there's not much stress on the sliders to cause it to break, i think the JB will hold 8)

I think the most stress the cut bar will see will be fitting the leather loop through the cut bar. that's when to be most careful.

true true, after the Jb weld maybe a small strip of fricton tape wraped around the bar once.. :-k
if everyone likes them we can try and get a deal with them and get a batch, hopefully they knock a few bucks off for a bulk order and i can see if they have a military discount! who knows its worth a try :)

hey Zen. since you have been away for so long I thought Id ask if you knew that wested had one of the original screen used temple of doom jackets in their possesion?

they copied the pattern of that jacket and offer now replicas of it.

so thats another original that is copied.

today we have two vendors that offer two replicas from two different screen used jackets. thats a 'wow' aint it ;)

think about how far we have come from were we started of..

Hi, Holt. Did Wested provide the black tri-glides for your screen accurate Raiders jacket? My 2003 Wested came with sliding center bar tri-glides when I requested the rectangular sliders. I have been unable to get the tri-glides from them since 2003.

thanks!

No matter what, I think the tri-glides work best because they stay and because they keep the strap pointing to the back for accuracy....

Sweet. I like 'em. I was lazy, and have multiple sets, so I just grabbed wire cutters, bent the bar, and went at it. Your mileage may vary, I'm not saying it's the best technique, but the immediate gratification factor can't be overlooked.

those look just like todd's 3-bars :D

folks, if you find a good tailor, they can undo the stitching, install the buckle and put the thread back in the same holes manually (still using a machine but, very, very carefully).....i did this on my wested washed goat and it came out great ;)

Yeah, true. I'll do that if anything goes wrong with the ones I put on. But I pretended I was working in wardrobe on Raiders, and had 15 mins to fix loose straps on the hero jackets, and all I had were a pair of wire cutters, so my method has to be more prop-accurate

just wanted to post that i bought these 3bar buckles and man they are nice..(2 sets for like $11 including shipping....not bad at all)......i was surprised as to the weight of them as i have bought different styles in the past and these ones are definitely the most robust. i hazard to guess that they are even heavier than what was on my todd's customs and standard.

i'm quite happy with them. good find heyjude and thanks for sharing.

i'm taking a set of these to tony next week to see if he has anything 'to go with it' ;)

cheers,

G

if he hasn't changed his hardware, they are chrome, curved, and a tad thicker/bigger than what i see on screen. they look really nice with the silver zip, but i like black buckles.....it 'feels' closer to SA for me ;)
