Just found a way that worked for me to age my brass buckle.Use some wire wool to take off shiney coating then put on some scratches in keeping with a lifetime of adventure.Next mix malt vinegar, window cleaner (Mr muscle) and thick bleach.Leave buckle to soak for a couple of hours.Hey pesto.Buff up to bring back a bit of shine.TRY NOT TO BREATH IN TOO MUCH OF THE MIXTURE ! ! ! This worked great for me.

Yes I will post some pics soon.I would stir the mixture every 15 - 20 mins as it does seperate after a while.It makes the brass look nice and old and brings out the green corrosion around the edges.NIIIICCCCCCCEEE.

I aged mine too. I wore it fishing in the ocean and would wade out waist deep. After a while, the salt and the wear really beat it down.

There you go buddy. Nothing like the real "natural" distress job.

Lol, nice. Us Aussies are just to lazy to distress items ourselves. I'll start with my Mkvii when it arrives. Try and break the habit

You DO know that some of the buckles such as ToD were actually distressed so finely that they turned silver right?

Yeah I know, but being the busy guy that I am, this will do for now. I'm not even sure if the buckle is actually brass coloured all the way through, so I might sand the back to have a look. If it is, i'll distress it even more.

pardon? does this mean that brass will look like shiny silver if given a fine-enoug polish? i've got a buckle that's stamped as 'solid brass' but started to look like stainless near the clamp after a while and i thought i'd got duped. does this mean my buckle actually WAS solid brass and the repeated fastening had polished it to look like silver?

I have a NH LC web belt and I believe he distressed most of his web blets. From what I can tell of his distressing, it does not reveal any silver or steel base.
