There is a yellowish tint to yours. Mine is pretty much devoid of yellow. It looks good on you, btw.

Re: MY new Todds shirt
Howdy,
I bought a Todd's shirt last month. I love it , but I, too, found it a bit too. So, taking a tip from BigRex, I washed my shirt in warm water/no soap with 3 new pairs of black cotton dress socks. The black dye bled off a bit into the shirt.
Before: After:
These photos were taken in the same spot, same lighting, same camera, same setting. The wall looks a bit different, which I think is due to the low-light, no-flash auto-correction in the camera. The shirt really does look pretty much that different from before.
I am pleased with the result. I think it knocked off some of the yellow and gave the shirt more of the grayish undertone I see in the movies. I don't know how the color will hold up, but if it lightens up, I'll wash it with a pair of socks again.
Note: your results may vary!

Re: MY new Todds shirt
Well, this was the second time I washed it. The first time was with warm water/no soap, then I threw it in the dryer on warm. The shirt shrank from an XL to a slightly big L. That's what I expected; I wear a L in most shirts, but I have long arms, so the shrinkage worked out perfectly. The second wash with the socks followed by a drip-dry resulted in no shrinkage whatsoever. I plan on drip-drying it from now on, so it should stay about the same size. IMO, buy Todd's shirt a bit big from the start; it's all cotton so of course it will shrink the first time you wash & dry it.

Re: MY new Todds shirt
yea i kinda bought it my size and it already fits perfectly so i should just not dry it then so it wont shrink?
Re: MY new Todds shirt
To wash with least possibility of shrinking: Cold Water, Light on the Soap, Hang to Dry.

Why is your Christmas tree still up in that third photo? You know it is halfway through February, right?
That shirt does appear to be somewhat yellowed. Has anyone else noticed this about the Todd's?

I'm curious to see what the black sock option would do with mine, even though the color's good to me.

Re: MY new Todds shirt
i mean dont get me wrong the color is like the tank scenes in last crusade and the warehouse scene in crystal skull i think Todd made the color like so it looks like a certain lighting at almost all times. just the only thing i think is bad is that in the sun it looks dark and when you take pics with the flash it looks yellow more than it does in person so its fine for now till i find an easy way to change it idk
Re: MY new Todds shirt
I totally understand that. People tell me my Wested shirt looks white in some photos, but it certainly isn't.

Somebody actually followed my advice? That's kind of scary. lol. but I guess it worked out fairly well for you, and I promise I did use myself (or my shirt) as a guinea pig before spouting off my advice on here. I'm thinking of doing a before and after on my Adventurebilt shirt using the black sock graying method. Should be fun (if all goes well). Always seems like kind of a semi-risky adventure to me.

Rex, I digress.. I did the sock trick and lo and behold... darn it if there wasn't yellow in the shirt to begin with! I CAN tell a difference with it, less yellow. And here I kept holding to my story of no yellow in mine..

Re: MY new Todds shirt
I don't know- I never thought the tank scene and the warehouse scene shirt looked yellow AT ALL. The only color I EVER thought it to be was beige/khaki.

I'll dust this one off a bit.....................
I was wondering how those shirts that were washed with black socks have been holding up. Has the color stayed or do you have to keep up with sock thing no and then.
Ya I've been bored today, so I went digging.

Re: MY new Todds shirt
Thanks for digging this thread up again!
After receiving my Todd's shirt, I saw it was too yellow. Now I know what to do.
Does the technique work with old black socks (where the dye has pretty much leeched out already) or should the socks be new?

Re: MY new Todds shirt
I ordered a new shirt last week. I have three now....the original yellow version...a much better color second version, and a I got fat version, with a recent XL. The color is very close to the second version...but the buttons. Why would Todd change the buttons? Now the are just plain everyday buttons...I don't like the shape....
Re: MY new Todds shirt
Redinight, I just noticed this as well. My shirt is of the latest offering and the color is the same as the 2nd generation, which imho is not quite "the" color, and the sizing is a bit on the larger side of sizing as my new large is the same size as my 2nd gen. xl. I'm not sure why the buttons changed, but it's not that big of deal to me except if I re-dye it the buttons will not match. In regards to changing the color, I would rather go with the Rit dye bath using the pearl gray to tone down the creamy tan color of the shirt. I used this method with Todd's 1st gen. shirt and the results were pretty descent, however, I tried lightening it up as much as I could(lots of wash cycles in Rits whitener/brightener and drying in the scorching Florida sun) before the gray dying. Hope this helps you guys as well.

Re: MY new Todds shirt
With these "newer" posts...a month or so old, Can someone PLEASE post some photos of the New Todds shirt compared to one from a few years ago. He has a new material and I really want to see examples. Unfortunately he is already out of Medium, so I have to wait quite a while to purchase.jlhampton wrote:Redinight, I just noticed this as well. New owners, how do you feel about the fabric itself, not so much the color?
Thanks
