Conditioning / Polishing Aldens

I've read several posts where many have indicated they've used Pecards or other products on their Aldens. A few questions:

1) Did you use the leather dressing or the motorcycle version? From what I've read in postings, the Pecard's leather dressing makes things heavier, so I though maybe the motorcycle version would be lighter.

2) Has anyone tried other colours of Meltonian other than the reddish stuff they include with the boots? I was at a leather shop the other day and they had dark brown, medium brown, London brown, and a ton of other, non-reddish brown colours. If one applies this over the existing pumpkin (IMHO whatever they choose to call it, it really is pumpkin) colour, does it help tone over the boots to more of an appropriate colour?

Thanks.

The problem with the lotion is that since it's water based, and the new leather is wax finish, it just doesn't penetrate. I've used standard Pecards, as well as the new brown Pecards paste on the new Aldens, and they've darkened up quite nicely over several applications. I've found that meletonian leather creme just doesn't work all that well on the new wax finish leather, but is the ONLY way to go on the previous patent leather pairs. As to the weight, the boots are so heavy in the first place, I've detected no difference between non application of Pecards, and several applications of standard leather dressing, so don't worry about that. You won't even know it's there. Of course I'm ONLY giving what I've experienced with my boots and what I use. Regards. Michaelson
