Wrong turn

Post by Restless Dreamer »

So...I turned my hat in order to obtain the particular swoop of the brim and all. When my Henry was new, the brim was totally flat and took its shape only when placed on my head, but now that it has lost its stiffness, when I wear my fedora the brim does not warp anymore.

as you know, when you turn a hat you've got the left side curling up while the left side of the brim is straight and parallel to the ground. but now, the left side of my hat points downwards.

should I iron the brim flat in order to reactivate the stiffener? :-k

(and no, I can't provide pics, sorry)

Don't iron it. maybe a little steam at the brim only.

The reason people ask for photo's because some times people not all of us explain things the same way.

thanks for the tip, Oak. but won't this just make the brim hold its actual (wrong) shape? I tought the best thing to do was to make the brim flat again :-k

The raiders hat had some curl to it. If you iron the brim you will flatten it out again. When you flange a brim you shrink the brim to match the flange. If you iron the brim you will stretch it back out.

Steam the brim, put it on your head real fast and coax the brim shape into it. You may need to do this more than once. Fedora
