I'm making a new, all-purpose dream hat block for myself, and I've got a bit of a problem involving the dome at the top of the block.
I'm REALLY into square crowns (like the hat on the ROTLA movie poster), so to start of I made a block with a square top and sanded down the edge to a rounded finish.
Obviously this needed to be done because if there's an actual corner on the top of the block, it just won't work.
My question though is regarding this - although I've sculpted the edges around the top to be round, there's still a big flat spot on the very top of the block.
So...just how square how can I make it? I'd like to go as square as possible without ruining the look.
From what I can gather, a flat topped block would make a center crease a bit more difficult to accomplish, correct?
I can post a picture tomorrow if it will help.
