Wildfires in Australia!

Post by midwestwhips »

In case anyone hasn't heard about it:

http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Wildfires ... 709ausfire

I txt messaged Janine Fraser last night to see where she was in relation to the wildfire, and she said that the fire is about 9km(5miles) from where she is with spotting embers!

I got a txt from her this morning saying that they're ok at the moment.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone being affected, I hope you are all ok.

Regards,

Paul Nolan

My thoughts and prayers for everyone who is close to the fires.

These sorts of fires are very rare - but the old timers mention them in old books, where they describe entire ridges and mountainsides exploding into flame all at once. A firestorm. I used to think the old timers were exaggerating but obviously they were right.

G'day Chooka! (Paul)

All is ok with me! Thanks to those who were concerned. We only scrapped through by the skin of our teeth though. Had some harrowing experiences with these darn fires. Mates of mine have lost all their fencing, grass, silage and hay shedding pumps etc. Their homes and cattle herds saved but its going to be very hard for them to get back on their feet after these devestaing fires. So i feel very lucky when I reflect on the lives, pets and homes etc that were lost in what they are calling Black Saturday.

Hope all is well with everyone there and again thanks for the phone calls, texts and emails sent.

Hooroo

Hi Janine, Long time no see.

Thanks so much for stopping in to give us an update. I'm really glad and relived to hear that you’re ok. Property and possessions can be replaced but lives can't, our hearts and prayers definitely go out to those who didn’t fair so well.
