Check out the ongoing shennanigans on the Christys' Adventurer thread. That one's 50 pounds, out of Hornets Hats. Plenty of links on that thread, and plenty of, uh....friendly exchange, as well.

 ...Dude get over it...mountains outa mole hills is a phrase that comes to mind.

I concur though, if your looking for a hat within the UK christie's is your best option.

Unfortunately I have to disagree on the Christys hat. There will be shrinkage issues, While it might be the cheapest, It won't be the best. Look beyond. BTW, I just bought a Penman hat. Best bang for buck

If you are near London, weather permitting!, it's worth going to the shops in Kensington to check this hat out, as it is essentially a HJ at a fraction of the price.

They charge slightly more in the shop than they do online, but the extra is negated by the postage costs so it's swings and roundabouts.

It can be made to look fantastic in skilled hands, in others it seems to make a better LC or TOD style.

The next options are the Akubra Fed IV, the AB Henry and the Penman. They will all cost a bit more and have a longer lead time.

As far as the UK goes which is specified in the question, what other hat in the UK would you recommend?...While the Christie's has some drawbacks, some would say many, I know of no other Indy hat in the Uk which could beat it. I admit thats quite a depressing statement. :?

Within the UK you are limited between the christie's and Herbert Johnson (as far as I know). Christie's comes out on top imo...but its the lesser of two evils  :[
